Sounds good. I like historical / biographical movies.

The Cobbler (2014) was interesting, but nothing great.

Coming to America. Just on another level. Still awesome.

Patrick Swayze was the coolest man alive at the time and he is dirty dancing. Plus, all girls go wild for the final dance.

The Comfort of Strangers (1990) - Christopher Walken.

Thought this would be a simple relationship/drama kind of movie, had no idea it was a sick, psycho movie ! :(

I think suresh means that HE uses only 5 % of his brain. The rest of his brain is meant for storage of food.

    Feel free to correct me.

Comet - Set in a parallel universe, Comet bounces back and forth over the course of an unlikely but perfectly paired couple's six-year relationship.

13 Sins - A cryptic phone call sets off a dangerous game of risks for Elliot, a down-on-his luck salesman. The game promises increasing rewards for completing 13 tasks, each more sinister than the last.

Mark Webber really reminded me of Steve Darcis.

Hadn't heard of 13 Sins so had to check it out on IMDb. It sounds interesting. I'm surprised to find that it's a new movies. I was just assuming it was maybe 30 years old or so.

Yeah, I had never heard of it either. I rather enjoyed it. My type of film really. Worth your watch, if you're into those strange thriller types.

    Ran (1985)

I thought this was excellent. It could have been a silent film and I think I would have liked it even more if it was. Next time I watch it I'm turning the subtitles off.

    "The Promise"

In theatres, the Turks and the Armenians in 1915, romance and war combined in a way startlingly reminiscent of "Dr. Zhivago," but not nearly as well as in that classic from the 60's. Oscar Isaac, though, is terrific.

Not only is it the greatest Shakespeare adaptation in the history of cinema (its only rival is Kurosawa's own Throne of Blood), it's among the very greatest films in history, period. You really can't appreciate what a monumental achievement Ran is (Kael called it "perhaps the biggest piece of conceptual art ever made") until you compare it with Laurence Olivier's own highly regarded efforts in Bardology.

Also since Moose gave this old post of mine a like some time ago let me give a shout-out to two more foreign films, both nominated for this year's Oscar in the Animated Feature category: The Red Turtle and My Life as a Zucchini. I'm still not sure whether I'd include the former in my best of 2016 (not only because of my general apathy against allegories but also because I think the story might have been better told in a more straightforward manner), but if it fails to crack my top 10 it'll have come pretty damn close. And Zucchini is just a lovely miniature with memorable characters both young and old. Despite its happy ending it's too painful and honest to be seen as a kids' movie (it's a French film, so sex is given a pretty prominent spot), and the audience is better served for that.

Both are probably superior to Zootopia (which of course won the Oscar) and Kubo though I still prefer the latter to the rest, but at least the Academy got most of the nominees right, the one exception being Moana which should've made room for April and the Extraordinary World.
