Poitier is an engineer who accepts a teaching assignment at a school where children rejected from other schools land up. He has to tame these rowdy unruly kids including some tough ones.

Great movie. I still remember it being shown in school to us kids. This and Lilies of the Field. I can never forget these two movies - memories of childhood :)

Final saw 2018 Death Wish!

It more tongue and cheeks version of Charles Bronson’s classic series!

I like it! The ending is the best, the police detectives are okay with it! LOL! After all, he probably reduce serious crime in the city by 30%!

Tuck Everlasting (2002) - Sissy_Spacek, Ben_Kingsley, William_Hurt and others.

About a family that never ages and cannot die, and another normal family both living in some quiet country area. The eternal family keeps their thing a secret. The families intersect. Ben Kingsley is following them. There's romance, of course, between an eternal and a mortal (like Lord of the Rings).

Light, family movie.

Ivan and Abraham
Shows the hate and animosity between Jews and Polish before WW2 in a dying world .
2 young boys ( one Jewish and one Catholic ) are caught in extreme events and hate and flee the country side together
Really shows you what Jewish life was like in their little towns and you can see a nation that is collapsing
A lot of Yiddish

Nobody Lives Forever (1946) - John_Garfield, Geraldine_Fitzgerald, Walter_Brennan, Faye_Emerson

Garfield is a con-man who wishes to swindle a rich widow (Fitzgerald) but falls in love with her.
The rest of the gang want their money.

Directed by: Jean_Negulesco.

The above photo reminded me of a con-man (long back) - Charles Sobhraj, French speaking chap, who conned foreign women and then poisoned them. Slick talker.

Bruce Almighty(2003) - A guy who complains about God too often is given almighty powers to teach him how difficult it is to run the world.

Cast: Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, Morgan Freeman

The Shining(1980)
- A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence,
while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future.

Cast: Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd

The music was scary and the hotel looked like a terrifying place to live. I liked how they showed a guy losing his insanity over a period of time.
Sometimes, TTW feels more like The Overlook hotel!

You Were Never Really Here (2017)
R | 89 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery
A traumatized veteran, unafraid of violence, tracks down missing girls for a living. When a job spins out of control, Joe's nightmares overtake him as a conspiracy is uncovered leading to what may be his death trip or his awakening.

Looks another crazy type plot twist of veteran-detective mixed movie here! I seem this combo since Vietnam War ended back in 1972!

Enjoyed watching Wild America (1999) - Three young brothers go around American filming wild animals. Based on the life of one of the brothers who became a wild life documentary photographer. There's a TV series also based on his work.

Nice family, adventure movie.

I thought The Irishman was excellent. The deaging wasn't too distracting. You notice it and then it is out of the way.

Just watching Pacino and De Niro in the back of a car and then thinking of all their movies I've enjoyed. Anything before 1995 for Bobby. :p

Has a nice slow pace and I was really into it. The performances maybe more interesting than the story but they were all up to it. Pacino screaming a lot, Pesci playing a calm guy this time. Robert De Niro, the best I've seen from him in years. (He was sweet in Joker as well.) 2 enjoyable performances in one year. Wow. haha

Was a decent story, but really enjoyed the animation. For family/kids it is a 7/10 in my book. As an adult, maybe a 5/10 overall.

Mr. Rogers through the eyes of an investigative journalist, a tribute that avoids fawning. Worthwhile.

This Happy Breed (1944) - A middle-class family and their lives between the two wars.

In 1919, Frank Gibbons (Robert Newton) returns home from army duty and moves into a middle-class row house, bringing with him wife Ethel (Celia Johnson), carping mother-in-law Mrs. Flint (Amy Veness), sister-in-law Sylvia (Alison Leggatt) and three children. Years pass, with the daily routine of family infighting and reconciliation occasionally broken by a strike or a festival. By the time the children have grown into adults, another war is looming

Saw a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
It was a good-hearted film, sort of like a Hallmark film with upscale acting. Some of the touches were nicely done, for example the use of the miniature town intercut with the real world.

Sometimes I think- why can't people just be nice to each other? That's kind of what this movie is about.

You'd like "Hereditary" - goes off the rails in a goofy way - wholesome family entertainment

The Irishman (2019)

The genre's dream team cast —Di Niro, Pacino, Pesci, Keitel— who get decades younger before your eyes (thanks to the latest CGI advances), sweet doo-wop, alcohol doused watermelons, Jimmy Hoffa, the mob electing JFK, yet brother Robert going after the mob, Castro as well, mob tryin to get back to Havana (Bay of Pigs)... on and on and on. A lot.

Jeez, I thought I went to see just a simple mafia movie but Scorsese treated me with a matinee. A historical epic. The backdrop spans the history of North America in the 20th century. And that simultaneously presented with a personal journey of a Philly gangland hitman. An "origin story" except this time it's not a DC Comics character but a human being bad boy that actually existed in real life. And all this packaged not in a glamourized way such as the classics —Goodfellas, Godfather etc— but fully confronting the tragedy that life of crime is.

Long story short: bring on the Oscars... and the arguments (about what really happened to Jimmy Hoffa, who really killed JFK, RFK, etc etc)

The battle against Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has began.

The Notorious Landlady (1962) - Jack_Lemmon, Kim_Novak, Fred_Astaire.

Lemmon comes to London and rents part of Novak's house and falls in love with her. She is a murder suspect, Astaire is Jack's boss (at the US embassy). Astaire also is smitten with Novak. They are trying to prove she is innocent, but is she ?

The movie suddenly has a new subplot at the 90 minute mark and goes all Chaplin. Stretches to 2 hours.

Nice excuse to poast some pics of Kim.

Donnie Brasco (extended cut 1997)

I doubt it will ever catch up to the amount of times watching Goodfellas, but this can still hold my attention all the way even after so many watches. Good ol gngster movie based on true story. Al Pacino and Johnny Depp connected, the supporting cast all good. Yes, Al Pacino was hell of a gangster and I've watched them all. I think Carlito's Way is good but I'm not super fond in love with it. I think this is the best performance I've seen from Johnny Depp.

Hey, Donnie. When in Rome.

Who won the war?

We did, ya wanna fight it again? Take off your ****ing shoes.

Didn't really watch the movie, just a redlettermedia's best of the worst it was a part of. Cover art deserves few Oscars at least though.

“Face of Terror” from 1962. I actually enjoyed this movie; the acting was pretty good and it kept me entertained!

Plot: A scientist develops a serum that can eradicate scar tissue. He tries it on a girl with a horribly disfigured face. It succeeds, but then he discovers the girl is an escaped mental patient from a local asylum.

Not that I ever coveted them but after this movie I don't think I want to have to do anything with a piece of stone that comes from the blood of people. Human greed has no limits :(
I caught the last half sometime ago on telly. Even if we avoid diamond, we still use smartphones. :(
