What was the last movie you watched?

Finished Game of Thrones. It was great. Wish I could obliviate myself and start over again. It is messing with my sleep and dreams.
Guess watching too many episodes in a short period of time is not good.

I also caught a couple of flicks.

Marriage story(2019): It's about a couple who are dealing with hardships during the divorce process.
Cast: Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson

Great acting from both. Someone in IMDb reviewed that it is a movie that attorney would not want to be made. :P

It shows how crooked the system is. I liked it when the lawyers were devouring the opposite camp, pushing their clients
to think that they should not have allowed it to get this far.

Forrest Gump(1994): Forrest Gump, a man with a low IQ, joins the army for service where he meets Dan and Bubba.
However, he cannot stop thinking about his childhood sweetheart Jenny Curran, whose life is messed up.

Cast: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise

Loved it.

Bokeh 2017 - not a film you watch for plot or characterization. Watching the film is like meditation as the many panoramic shots of the landscape in Iceland helps to create a calm detached feeling from society.

I've just started Ford V Ferrari and am finding it interesting. Christian Bale, Matt Damon and Jon Bernthal (playing Lee Iacocca)

Reminds me of when Iacocca's autobiography came out and everyone was talking about it.

The Best Of Enemies

Set in Durham NC, it is based on a true story about a charrette organized to solve racial issues in the public school system. Taraji P Henson and Sam Rockwell play the leads, a civil rights activist and a Klan leader, who co-chair the council created to address the divisive issues and community tension.
How was it? Sounds interesting. Good cast.

Of all 2019 Oscar flicks, Ford v Ferrari gave me the most thrill and fun ride! As far as storytelling goes, it kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire movie.

I was slightly disappointed to learnt some of the plots were indeed made up. Bale deserves a nomination for his performance. Very disappointed that the movie didn’t get more love from The Academy.

I enjoyed the movie.

Reminds me of watching Le Man's as a kid at the theatre. Bale was good. I was thinking he does the British accent quite well, sometimes overdoes it. Then I read that he is British!!

Last evening I watched I am Mother. As far as modern Scifi movies go this was a very good one, but not up to the excellence of standard classics. A recommended movie anyway.

"JoJo Rabbit"

There's something vaguely inspired in making a film about Na-zis that's in part comedic, as it underscores what a ridiculous albeit horribly tragic blemish they were on history. See it.

This movie made in 1998 is about U.S. Army’s longest battle and had 33,000 killed and over 260,000 wounded known
as the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest 1944! After the battle, U.S. Army retreated back to their original line just before entering the Hurtgen Forrest! Only the Battle Of Gettysburg during the American Civil War had more U.S. soldiers killed. Antietam was close! Battle Of Normandy had 29,000 killed.

Le Parfum D'Yvonne (Yvonne's perfume).

Liked the scenery and the beautiful people.

Don't like the ending.

It makes me want to enjoy life as much as I can.

There is a little bit of tennis in the movie.

Gangster Squad 2013 - Based on a true story a hand selected team of cops assembled to take down a gangster in LA. Light weight compared to the Untouchables. The violence is more OTT and I liked the stylised depiction of 1950s LA.

Jojo Rabbit (2019) - Interesting movie.

Archie Yates as his friend Yorki.

Still hoping to review some of the Oscar winners/nominees later on, but since Valentine's Day is upon us let me give a qualified endorsement of The Photograph, both written and directed by Stella Meghie. I admit I wasn't expecting much from Meghie's fourth feature as I was bored by her squeaky-clean 2017 adaptation of Nicola Yoon's YA novel Everything, Everything, which I now see is her only film without her own screenplay. If that explains why her new outing is so much more vibrant and, well, mature, then she should insist on maintaining her creative control as it's clear she understands the black upper-middle class better than most of Hollywood's writers for hire.

At the same time it is that metier of hers which keeps me from responding to her protagonists more wholeheartedly, and I suspect much of her black audience feels the same way. Meghie clearly did not intend the doomed flashback romance between Christina Eames (Chante Adams) and Isaac Jefferson (Rob Morgan, one of the great unsung actors of our time) to steal the spotlight from the main love story of their upscale counterparts Mae Morton (Issa Rae) and Michael Block (Lakeith Stanfield), but that's exactly what happens and the disorienting result is hard to block out. And at the risk of piling on I should add that if you're looking for representation you will find only the skin-deep variety here.

But I really don't mean to damn with faint praise. Yes, don't forget about your Chaplin, Lean, Demy, Carné and Ophüls, or for that matter Céline Sciamma's Portrait of a Lady on Fire which also is out this weekend (given its hype I'm expecting Neon to expand its US release further after Parasite's Oscar fever dies down), but after the godawful VD hackery of recent years it's a relief to finally have the option of seeing on the big screen a heartfelt love story that does not insult your intelligence. Take your beloved out with confidence (I was one of only two audience members at this 11 pm Thursday preview, so do spread the word if you like what you see):

Watched Final Girl. Very entertaining and stylish even - directed by a photographer so it piqued my interest right away. A bit corny at times but it was thoroughly enjoyable. When the hunter is hunted, it's a whole new game and a change of direction.

...Light weight compared to the Untouchables...

Not a lot of directors can create a scene like this (kudos to everyone else involved too: DP, sound, costume, actors, etc...and the baby, Collin Hymes, who was the stunt director's 18-month old son ).

I’ll be honest - the name Bombshell doesn’t appeal me to actually watch the movie. I’ll probably put it off because of it.

"The Photograph"

A somewhat convoluted and largely pointless plot dresses up what is essentially a steamy romance. Starts to drag quickly.

Capernaum.

Wow, so raw, so real, as if it is not an act.

Tough life.

Some really funny moments too.

After watching this movie @dgold44 will surely have nothing to complain about: he has food, water, and house.

Collision - 2014 Starring Jamie Alexander (Co star of NBC BlindSpot TV Series)
Action, Adventure, Thriller.
Jamie Alexander plays Taylor Dolan a newlywed honeymooning in Morocco.
“A couple on their honeymoon in Morocco survive a deadly car accident in the middle of the desert.”
Jamie Alexander without the tattoos and long hair in a tight dress is quite the looker! She uses her looks in
this movie!
If you are a fan of Jamie Alexander, this is a must movie! Otherwise, if you like a twisted movie
sort of like Mile 22, you will Collision too!

It’s not a movie but I watched the 2-hour premiere on MSNBC by foodie Andrew Zimmern entitled What’s Eating America tonight and it was outstanding!

None of us in America would enjoy the bountiful table available to us without the hard work put forth by people here in the US in the fields and food factories by a class of people being unfairly demonized for political gain by the unscrupulous leaders of our country. Zimmern does a wonderful job of documenting this fact.

The next episode airs a week from now. If you want the unvarnished truth about the reality of where your dietary needs are harvested and the implications of plans against the flow of nutrients to your table, please dig this episode up and continue watching.

Lives are in the balance.

Watched Breach that was based on true story. Was a good look inside the FBI/CIA stuff. And also, The Open House that actually made no sense but it was a good build up that eventually led to nothing. Good cinematography though.

Medicine Man (1992) - Sean Connery.

Sean is an eccentric scientist somewhere in the Amazon forest, who has discovered a cure for cancer. An assistant joins him and of course they are at loggerheads, which means they will probably fall in love by the end of the movie.

Movie was a flop. It was shot in Mexico since the Amazon was considered too dangerous for the crew (@Sudacafan, is South America dangerous? :D). Still, seems Connery and some others managed to complain a lot about conditions there,

Yes, very dangerous. Only brave men like me can live here.
