Warrior. The fighting scenes were awesome. Definitely a highlight for this year. (I didn't have the chance last year)

I liked the book for its message of rebellion and anarchy, plus the action is really good. The movie let me down a bit.

In the same sort of vein as Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and based on the series of Jo Nesbo books. Nesbo is regarded by some as the next Stieg Larsson and this movie is absolutely fantastic. It has a pretty dark vibe - part thriller, part action film - and is in Norwegian/Swedish with English subtitles.

Cool. I'm the worst when remembering the pot line of long series. It prefer to watch all of them in succession.

Do. It's one of those thriller/action films which leaves you quite edgy. It's a great story and they translated it well onto the silver screen.

Cabin in the woods. You will either love it or hate it. I didn't like it much when I got out, but after thinking about it more, I really enjoyed it. It's a weird concept so it's different. Pretty gory. Go watch it.

    Iron Sky.

It's a brilliant B-movie. An intelligently made stupid comedy, with some dark satire to boot.

    Actually loled several times.

Chronicle It was okay, interesting idea but in my view they really didn't need to make it a "found footage" genre.

sherlock holmes a game of shadows . Very good. I liked the villain as well. Enjoyed it a lot.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol . The girl in the team is so hot :/ What I didn't like was that the Indian billionaire is shown as a ****** bag ! I think Hollywood is still living the age of stereotypes and Hollywood thinks the American audience want to see this as well. There is something rotten about this.....

I love that movie. The scene where the father and son sit in the bunker and the father drinks and smokes, enjoying some degree of safety and peace of mind....I cannot forget that scene. I must read the book now !

    Two Days in New York

Julie Delpy wrote, directed and stars in (with Chris Rock) this sequel to "Two Days in Paris." Light romantic comedy, a few amusing bits.

Haywire - run of the mill action movie; nothing spectacular. missable.
Tower Heist - not too bad a comedy.
    Dream House - good one.

If you liked it, I recommend that you check out "Battle Royale". The following description is taken from IMDb: In the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary "Battle Royale" act.

I think it's a shame that The Hunger Games gets so much hype when it's a blatant copy of a > 10 year old movie - except not as good, in my opinion, now that I've seen it.

Avengers is very good and I am more of an indie/foreign films guy. It is just a well made superhero movie. My only gripe is that Capt America's uniform looks kind of lame, but the battle is very epic and well done.

I would love to see comic movies made visually more creative. I think of 300 and how unique it looked when it came out, and think that type of creativity could be perfect in a comic movie to capture the feel better.

For example if you look at the old avengers comics, the art is done in a way that just makes it perfect.

Fine independent film about a guy who sets out to debunk the cult of gurus. A comedy that makes you think.

    Hysteria

Victorian England, a fairly predictable romantic comedy with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jonathan Pryce.

I haven't! I've been meaning to, but I always forget.

I have, however, read the manga version of Battle Royale. I didn't think it would be any good, but I actually thought it was brilliant. I really fell in love with some of the characters and although no Shakespeare, I feel it was really well done even though it plays around with some clich├ęs and stereotypes.

I guess in such movies anyone who is not an American has got to be evil. But I should not have complained as it is an American movie and they have to portray everything from their own perspective. And it is just a movie!

However, denying that Hollywood takes stereotypes to the extreme would be wrong. A lot of people make up their mind on the basis of what they watch on TV and movies, hence the stereotypes get reinforced.

It's not a film but season two of Game of Thrones has been fantastic so far.

The first series was off the hook. I rewatched the while series over two days while holed up in a hotel during a storm early in the year. >>> epic TV viewing.

Avengers was good but nothing legendary imo. Superhero films have gotten way too corny in the past few years - with the current Batman series being the exception. Enjoyable but not going down in history as a benchmark superhero film.

Hunger Games is a good film also but, again, nothing legendary. Woody Harrelson is cast basically in every film as either an alcoholic, nutcase or a drug addict - and they really hammed it up in Hunger Games. It was obvious it was coming the second he was cast.

Overall the film seemed like it was trying a little too hard to be the anti-Twilight: a film catered to the teen/youth audience but trying to be darker with lots of killing and evil dystopian themes, most of which fell flat. It's like they tried to remake The Running Man as a film for teens. The book is apparently altogether much more sinister and detailed on the whole future setting.
