As smooth as Black Velvet, eh?Canadian whiskey tends to be pretty terrible tbh. Unless it's aged like 18 years, at which point it is pretty expensive for what you get, even buying it here in Canada.

It is quite possible that I had a bad bottle of Magnus. I've heard other people talking about that too. Anyways, I was nothing like my fave Highland Park 12.lol. I like the Magnus. Better than Johnnie Black and most 12 years IMO. Isn't that much worse than the Highland Park 12 year although I've never tried the 10.
I did get what I thought was one bad bottle though. It's a non age statement single malt, so it's possible.
Come on man. Red Label is disgusting. Different taste buds I guess.
On another note, this whisky alcohol content is 41.7%, while the Black Label is 40%.Johnnie Walker, Game of Thrones edition.
The encrypted message when you take the bottle out of the refrigerator reads: Winter is here.

Tend to wait and go to a Duty-free shop in Windsor. But seldom see, lol. Around Christmas I might splurge and get one of the more expensive Crown Royal or Gibson's. It does taste really Christmas-y to me. But generally I don't spend much on alcohol and so I stay away from rye.

Johnny pure malt (green label) is a pretty good whiskey. On another note, this whisky alcohol content is 41.7%, while the Black Label is 40%.
What's your latest drop, and how would you describe it?
Just cracked a Lagavulin 8yo Lim Ed, a lot peatier than what I remember with a bit of fire and low sweetness. I remembered it being like Talisker 10 but it's actually a lot smokier and less sweet. Still nice.
I've got Ardbeg 10yo, Jameson, Slane, Limeburners Sherry Cask, Hibiki Harmony, Hibiki 17yo, Hakushu 12yo lying around if you want to know about those just ask! (as in I'll tell you not give you some! )

hehe, i used to think the same... but at some point got started on "black and gingers" (johnny black and ginger ale), and eventually just skipped the ginger ale.Where's the "none" option in the poll, for people who think this beverage is disgusting?

been wanting to try the japanese ones, but too $$$
johnny blue seems overrated... i have a couple bottles, only for when guests come over that don't know much about whiskeys, but recognize the name... does feel like it's evaporating in my mouth, but still prefer the nectar-d'or
I'll stick to my vermouth
Ok might get a bottle for xmas. Anyone want to suggest what my next one should be?
Have you tried Ardbeg Wee Beastie? It is fighting my Talisker, which says something.
I am a single Malt Scotch guy. I like to support the smaller Distilleries. I have a few from the larger guys (Balvenie, Old Porteney, Ardbeg, etc.), but really enjoy Springbank and their offshoots (Kilkerran, Hazelburn, Longrow), Kilchoman, Glen Scotia. Have a couple bottles of Daftmill but have not opened one yet.
Not sure I can get hold of that one here. I already have Ardbeg Uigedal (or something or rather), and a couple of Taliskers so maybe I should get something a little more different to what I have already?
La-de-da!
Old Pulteney, Bladnoch, Kilkerran, Arran to name a few.Geln Scotia, Balvenie, Kilchoman are options for me, what do you think I should put in the rotation?
Legend!
Haven't tried that one but their "Rare Breed" is phenomenal.Wild Turkey Longbranch
For Xmas dinner, one of my brothers in law brought home a Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
We drank only 1/3 of the bottle, which stayed at home.
I promised I will finish it with him, whenever he comes back home to visit.
I think I am a very good in law.
I like the Blue Label, but I am not drinking much scotch lately. I am not fond of paying for $200 bottles.Do you like the Blue Label? What other spirits do you drink?
let get toghether and drunk and have fun
