What would be Sinner's legacy if he beats Nadal to claim his FO ?

If he makes final then he's in form , no excuse please if h loses to Sinner in final.
This is such a terrible argument. He made the QF and SF in 2015 and 2021 did he look like he was in form? Did Joker look like he was in form when he made the SF this past AO? Did Ol’ Rog look in form in his last Wimby when he made the QF? The answer to all of the above is no. As time passes the level required to beat the Big 3 becomes lower due to their decline. Besides, if RAFA evens plays he’ll be facing these top players in the early rounds. He’d probably have to play Sinner anywhere in the first 3 rounds.

Honestly I don't even want to think about it.

Only solution for Nadal is to retire ASAP before he falls to Sinner and elevates him.

If Nadal lost to Alcaraz, it would be pretty cool story like Fed/Sampras story. But honestly I hope to not see the day when Nadal loses to Sinner on his final RG appearance.

Who is with me?

Tell me a good reason why Nadal should lose to Teeth not Sinner? If Sinner is the new alpha in @Razer terminology then Sinner recieving the torch from Nadal is more fitting.

In 2021 he was injured and his BH was worse I have seen in his career , in 2015 he lost before semi. you're saying Nadal will make final with terrible form? Okay, here's a catch! What if Nadal sails through tough draw and makes the final only to get beaten by Sinner, will you still call him out of form? what's the problem in giving Sinner credit?son!

.what's the fun? Another RG and the slam race is already over, it would be better if new generation players take the charge.
I support Nadal and as a little bonus it would cause more emotional cope on here. I get what you mean though if you are tired of the domination which a lot of people are.

Sinner just beat AO's strongest man to claim his maiden slam, will his haters especially @CHillTennis and other sons give him his due credit if he beats Nadal to claim his second slam this year at RG? Beating AO God and RG God to claim their first two slam is a huge task.
Watch my next YouTube video to find out. ;)

Sinner most probably will meet Nadal in week 1 itself if they are on the same side of the draw, so I dont think Sinner beating Nadal will mean much unless they are on the opposite side of the draw and then it will be interesting. @NeutralFan

You’re welcome to bandwagon Sinner all you want. But as a true RAFAN I know that beating this RAFA wouldn’t mean a whole lot. To call him a shadow of his former self would be doing him an injustice.

I think i know what @The Blond Blur meant with his statement. There is a huge difference between beating 38 years old Rafa in the final compared to beating 24-32 years old Rafa in the final ;)

Even if he makes the final, i think it is fair to say and we can bet a lot of money that 38 years old Rafa won't be as good as Rafa in his 20s or early 30s.

As a Djokovic fan it would not mean THAT much. Sinner would win RG which would be an awesome achievement anyways but the current Nadal is far from even his 2015 level. At the current state to reach the semis or even a final at RG would be kinda crazy.

True, People are discounting how good Nadal is in RG final. It needs a special player to beat him in final and semi

Not really, I am tired of Tennis not moving forward and with the emergence of generational talent like Sinner is natural for the start of new era. With Sinner we might see other superstar emerging to stop him. I am a tennis fan first then a Nadal fan.

I am actually bored of Tennis to be honest.... after Djokodal retire or at least after Novak becomes geriatric and a non factor at Slams (I am assuming Nadal will be retired at that point) I will stop watching tennis completely, I already have no time now to play tennis since I am very busy, so in future I donno if I will even watch. Sinner and teeth are not at all exciting for me. I want someone as energetic as Federer to emerge once again and take control of Tennis, thats what excited me in the growing up years so I'll need such a player again to bring be back. Sinner seems too bland, Teeth is just too tiny and reckless, the up and coming players I donno who they are, so will take a break from tennis.

I think Sinner should do away with his boring hat , it makes him more dull than he might be IRL. He should add some swag to appeal fans like @MichaelNadal and weakera

This Nadal? If he makes final with a brutal draw he will be in a good form, he won't be as good as he's in his 20s but he is Nadal at RG.

Yes, the young players need to not only dominate the game but they also need personality. Any sport which doesnt have good player in their 20s in control of the game is bound to dwindle. The 2000s were a very exciting phase and the 2010s too were so, but the 1990s weak players have made tennis so uninteresting with their repeated failures, what can I say ? It can be very challenging to take youngsters seriously now.

I didn't slog through this whole thread, and here are my immediate thoughts:
  • It seems way too early to talk about Sinner's legacy -- he should have 10-plus years left to build it.
  • Simply winning the first two slams of the year would be a great achievement -- whether or not he meets Rafa, Novak, or even Alcaraz.
  • I do agree with you that if he beats Rafa in the final, that will add a little luster to an already impressive achievement.

There is a statue of Nadal outside of RG for winning 13 titles. (won 14th later)

I think the time has come to build a much bigger statue of Sinner and put it right in front of Nadal for his massive contribution to tennis.
No other player has contributed more to tennis.
No, they should take down Nadal's statue, and put on a much bigger statue of Sinner, in case he'll win his 2nd slam.

Basically it would be like Undertaker beating Hogan in 2002 for the world title.

Undertaker and Hogan have a lot of overlap, Undertaker already beat Hogan in 1991 for the WWF Title, they are not from different eras even though a wrestling generation apart, Sinner & Nadal are from 2 different eras entirely, much like Nadal and Agassi.... so Brock vs Hogan is the right comparison, Brock beat Hogan and bathed in his blood.

If Sinner beats Nadal then this is what it will be.

Depends how many he goes onto win. If he only wins 2 slams, will mean nowt. If he wins 10 plus would mean alot.

If Rafa plays he's the favourite for FO, if he makes final then he will be the red hot favourite against anyone.
He’s 38 years old and his body is being held together with glue and popsicle sticks. I know you’ve abandoned him to prop up Sinner, but this is just nonsensical. Should Sinner beat him no one would bat an eye. It would have been impressive 3-4 years ago, but that time has long since passed. He put up a decent fight in the 1st sets of RG in 2020 and 2021. But after that he was force fed bakery products. And even those versions of RAFA were severely declined.
