Believe me you have still plenty to learn about tennis. Posting regularly on Former Pro Players section will not change that fact. But you're free to believe whatever you want of course!
The fact that Federer on 70% won the channel slam, and almost won USO that year if not for that mega spectacular choke tells me what kind of year was 2009 competition wise. Except AO 2009 that is.
If 2008, 2011, 2013 and even 2012 never happened then i wouldn't say a word about 2009. But compared to this years, 2009 is no where near regarding competition and quality at the very top.
Drama wise vas very good, i will give you that. But that was more of a by-product of the state of the Top 5 that year which consisted of a somewhat weakened Federer, relatively poor in slams Murray and Djokovic, not anywhere near their peak yet, and Nadal who was a non factor after Madrid 2009...
I do indeed have much to learn, just not from you
If that was Federer at 70% then I hate to think what percent he was at in 2015 when he was Djokovic's biggest challenger for most of the year
Funny how you mention 2008, yet in a previous post mocked 2009 for having Simon in the top 10 at some point - when it was actually 2008 that he finished inside the top 10 at the end of the year.
Comparing just 2008 to 2009 for a minute out of the top 10 players in each year;
2008
1. Nadal
2. Federer
3. Djokovic
4. Murray
5. Davydenko
6. Tsonga
7. Simon
8. Roddick
9. Del Potro
10. Blake
2009
1. Federer
2. Nadal
3. Djokovic
4. Murray
5. Del Potro
6. Davydenko
7. Roddick
8. Soderling
9. Verdasco
10. Tsonga
There are 8 players who are in both lists, out of that 8 there are 5 who were better in 2009 compared to 2008 (Federer, Murray, Del Potro, Davydenko, Roddick). And yet 2008 is much better than 2009. You talk about Nadal disappearing in 2009 but Federer was poor for big stretches of 2008 with just as many random and poor losses - he was fairly solid in the slams for the most part though.
You talk up 2013 but that year Ferrer was the #3 player, Murray turned up for about 3 big tournaments that year (albeit 2 of them were slams) and Federer was dirt, hardly a big 4 year really, Nadal and Murray didn't even meet
And BTW I actually think competition wise 2012 was the best year of the lot, I just think 2009 was better for entertainment.
