What's Everyone Planning For The Fall Season?

Let's see. Last fall, I played 5.5 combo only. This fall I'll captain/play 6.5 combo with the my spring 3.0 teammates. I'll probably only get 4-5 matches because our team is so big. Bummer.

I'll also probably play 7.0 mixed with the same 7.0 mixed team from the winter 2007 season, but we've lost some players so I don't know if the team will actually happen. That would only be another three matches. Bummer.

To hedge my bets and maybe get in some more matches, I'll try to get on a 6.0 mixed team. My phone isn't exactly ringing off the hook with interested captains, though.

I will probably turn down a chance to play 7.5 combo. I'm a 3.0. I would probably just get killed at 7.5 combo. Even if the captain paired me with a 4.0, we'd still be playing under level. More likely would be a 3.0 partner, which would have us getting absolutely stomped by teams 1.5 rating levels higher than us.

Anybody else getting ready to play mixed or combo in the fall?

(Hey, Raiden, if you're out there, let me know if you might want to play 7.0 mixed. My 7.0 captain is looking for dudes.)

Captaining a 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5 Combo Team, trying to kick start a Tri-Level in my CTA and playing on an 8.0 MXD Team, while trying to play tournaments and continue working full-time and taking 6-9 hours of graduate school. Should be plenty exhausted by November.

I just finished my first season as a 3.5 (did well) and am currently on my first 7.5 combo team. I'll be playing on 1 or 2 mixed 7.0 teams as well with my wife as my partner.

Upcoming Season

In NC we played the Combo Mixed Double in the Summer, and we are about to start the Men's and Women's Combo Doubles this weekend. In my case it is an 8.5 Men's Combo with no 4.5's and all 4.0's, we will be lucky to win one or two matches, but we will have fun and improve! :D

In NC, Fall means combo. However, this year, fall also means singles league. So I'll be playing on an 8.5 combo team in Cary, and I'm captaining a 4.0 singles team in Durham.

Cindy,

Thanks for the 7.0 mixed offer, but I probably won't have the time to do it.
I'm playing on a 6.5 combo team right now while also trying to play more singles and practice strokes on the side; not to mention I'm taking two online master's courses during all this. I will probably do 6.0 winter mix also.

Trying to get on a team in the Western Michigan area, I've got a prospective team but I'll be going to school and now it looks like I have a job so we'll see how it goes.

Cindy, you're back!!! :)

I'm playing 6.5 and 7.5 combo and getting killed...oh well!

Currently I'm recovering from having my wisdom teeth out, and I'm in a lot of pain.

I don't know about mixed...if I do it, I'll do 7.0. 6.0 just was not fun, and I've already turned down a 6.0 team. Might just skip mixed this year.

Have a club tournament coming up in October, as well, I would like to do well there.

Hi, Topaz! Yep, I'm back from 2 weeks of wonderful vacation where I didn't run, exercise or touch a tennis racquet. I'm thinkin' my strokes may have suffered, but I don't care!

As for 7.5, if I couldn't win regularly this summer at 3.5, then doing 7.5 combo is practically asking to have my butt kicked. It's tempting though. The 7.5 teams are mostly 3.5s and 3.0s with the occasional 4.0 lurking out there.

I hadn't planned on playing 7.5, but a friend of mine asked me to be on her team. I think I'm only doing two matches, and one we've had already. We lost, but it was 6-3, 6-4...a good match. Oh, and both of our opponents were 3.5s, my partner was a 3.5 and I'm still a 3.0, so it wasn't as much of a discrepancy as it could have been.

I'm excited...I think I may have found a new 3.0 indoor team for next season...already!

I plan to stop sucking, rediscover my forehand, and put up some wins.

Funny.....I have the same plan.

I'm playing 7.5 combo, but I'm also going to keep having long hitting sessions trying to iron out my little issues, and I'm going to start drilling Saturday mornings to eliminate or minimize my weaknesses.

USTA 7.0 mixed and local league mixed - our team got bumped up to the top division in the local league. Lots of 4.5+ players there, going to be a long season.

We're skipping the fall USTA league and playing a club ladder to determine placement for spring teams next year.

Three NTRP tournaments I want to play in the next couple of months as well.

Need to get back in the weight room as well. My strokes have pretty much come back to me, my footwork and fitness are going to have to improve for me to make the move up to 4.0.

First and foremost I've GOT to get a backhand. lol

Other than that, Peach and KSwiss leauges and lessons, lessons, lessons. I thought I might want to try ALTA or USTA but I'm going to spend that time taking lessons.

Might get invited to play on a top 6.0 mixed team. A player I opposed in the spring is going to recommend me. I wonder if the captains will want me when I tell them that I won't be able to practice with them at all because of my commitment to 6.5 ladies and 7.0 mixed teams already . . .

I've got a busy tennis fall - captaining a Rock Hill 7.5 combo and playing on another in Charlotte, plus a Charlotte 8.5 combo. I'm also playing on an interclub team for the first time, and going to state with my Rock Hill 7.0 mixed and Charlotte 7.0 mixed. Plus I'm going to the Championships at the Palisades (Outback Champions' Series tournament) in September, which was a lot of fun last year.

Being from Texas....

I plan to tank, tank, tank and get to a level well below my skill set so I can kick some serious league butt next spring.

That is what it is all about anyway.

Alas, I missed mixed doubles this season. I now live in the bizarro section, so we will start the 2008 men's/women's seasons at the end of this month. Mixed was played from early June to early August. They don't have combo here.
