Whats Nishikori like 2-5000 vs. the Top guys?

For me this sums up what I like about Nishi, too.

I hope your prediction about him winning a major is true. Would be a wonderful moment for sure.
Unlike RoaMug, Nishikori seems to be getting mentally stronger in the tough situations. A WTF win is not out of the cards for the Ninja.:D The Ninja tired Murray today which was a brilliant move on his part as that may soften Murray up for a fall later in the tournament. Nishikori needs to quickly straight set the hapless Cilic Friday.

Who are you talking about? o_O
Murray is on the ropes. Nishikori and Wawrinka have scenarios that might give them number 1 seed. Wawrinka is number 1 out of the group if he beats Murray and Ninja loses. Nishikori is number 1 seed if they have a three way tie and Wawrinka won in straight sets.:D

This thread was about Nishikori and that was the Who.

Clearly just mistyped, but where I'm sitting and presumably where you are as well it's Thursday, and so Kei'll play tomorrow.
Dayum this tournament just got very interesting. Lordy if Thiem somehow gets by Raonic.:D

I'd like to see Cilic somehow pummel Nishikori so bad that Wawrinka is in with a loss to Murray. Thiem vs Murray. Wawa vs Djoko SFs please.:p Anything is fine with Thiem in place of Raonic.;)

Yeah right Meles. Murray is the only one in his group who has 2 wins but, according to you, HE is the one on the ropes!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

@Mainad is such a stickler. You two must have the heart rates up a bit for Friday's encounter with the Slamimal.

It will be a toughie. ALL of Murray's matches have been tough ones. After all HE is the one in the Group of Death. Nevertheless he is coming through his matches. What puzzles me is why you think everyone else is in a favourable position except him? o_O

Cilic was a bit shakey while Slamimal was in very good form. Ninja will have the much easier match on Friday. He may not have to face Murray again. Praying for Thiem vs Murray SF.:D Slamimal vs Thiem would be fun too.:p

From the top of my mind, Murray has played not-so-few matches over several months, so even a man of his exceptional fitness ought to be a bit extra tired by now. A 3:20 match before the prospect of playing tough matches Friday through Sunday doesn't help then.

As for Murray being on the ropes, I think that's very much an accurate statement. Stan can very well beat anyone if he's on, and he was today. So it's bring it or (probably) go home for Murray.

And not only is Murray on the ropes. Nishikori is too. And Stan.

We're basically getting a brutal fight for survival among three hungry and cornered carnivores:)

I like his chances very much until 3 hours and 20 minutes on court today. I'll be surprised if Stan goes down quietly on Friday. If the Muzziah wins he likely to be Friediah for possible Thiem SF.:p

Can't wait for that Friday between Stan and Murray. Amazing how perspective changes after one day.

I think a Thiem–Nishikori final is on the cards right now, maybe Thiem–Djokovic. Draw is taking some unexpected turns. Exciting days ahead now!

@Mainad Murray is in if he wins one set on Friday.

I have so much respect for Murray after his amazing year. And I would love to see him win the tournament.

With that said, knowing Stanimals trolling abilities, I would think it is almost a lock for him to win Friday's encounter lol.

Muzziah you know.;) Though I'm not sure of the roots of that name.

Fried is a slang term which can mean non-functioning or exhausted due to overwork. Friediah is an exhausted Muzziah; something with which we are all too familiar.

Friediah might need another term, but Poopediah is the best alternative atm.

He is right. Murray lost to Stan in straight sets last year in a decider for SF spot. Murray is not particularly good on Indoors like he is on outdoors.
That's why Nishi matches up well against him on Indoors. Not sure if you have watched Davis cup match between them earlier this up. This year all their Indoor matches between them went to the deciding set.

As for Stan, he likes this surface. He almost made it to the Final in 2014. So as a Murray fan, I will be little worried until Murray wins a set tomorrow.
But I like your optimism ;)

It's true, from a lock to the SF Murray now looks like a lock to have some serious problems. I see he is in the first slot to play Friday, so he will need to go all in anyways as he won't know what Cilic can do to Niši. It seems that the organizers want to make him as rested as possible for the Semi and Final with this scheduling, which might benefit him in the long run.

Unlike many others I don't think tiredness will be much of a factor for Andy. He had a week's rest from the not so grueling Vienna win, he had a nice one day rest in between matches till now, has the crowd on his side, and I am betting he is loaded with adrenaline which should get him through the last 3 matches of the season; he can already see the end of it all. The big question is can he actually take the game to Wawa, because if he is going to pass the ball to him on the T, than he is in for the sort of treatment Wawa loves to give to Nole :) That's his worse match of the potential 3 if you ask me.

The match was putrid today, but Kei wasn't the same after the war with Murray.
The guy can play well for 1 match, but just isn't durable or consistent. And I might question his fight when he's losing. However, at least he has slam wins over both Djokovic and Murray which is better than the rest of the mugs on tour (save Stan the Man)

Too kind to his fans? He blanks them according to a hardcore fan I know that stays at their hotel with her friends when they come to town--no photos, autographs or nothing.

It's not just that he can't beat the big 4, but he gets slaughtered by Wawrinka, Delpo, and Cilic on the regular as well. At least Ferrer could beat those guys on most occasions.

Slaughtered by Wawrinka, Cilic and Del Potro?

He's 3-4 against Wawa and 7-6 against Cilic. 1-4 against Del Potro, but I'd hardly consider that "getting slaughtered" by those 3 players overall..

Slaughtered is like Monfils vs Djokovic, or Ferrer vs Federer.

Not the fairest of comparisons but added a few players from weak era for the heck of it ;). Roddick, Hewitt, Safin and Tsonga did pretty OK. Rest need mug certification.

CilicMUG is the only one below 20%...rough sledding vs DjokoGOD skews that number but he removed himself from contention for the Vitas Gerulaitis Trophy recently.
