I played with Yonex Poly Tour Pro for nearly 2 years:
- Great string overall
- Low powered
- Good spin, good control, good comfort
- Reliable, I know what I can expect from the string from day 1 until it breaks (around 3 weeks for me)
- I prefer the 1.20mm
It's like playing with Mario on Mario Kart, you will have an all-around string.
Yonex Poly Spin for me was very stiff, even more low powered and didn't fit my game as well as YPTP.

I have heard that Yonex strings are almost TOO low-powered...did you find that?

Poly Tour Pro is comfortable for a poly, and as noted above, has very predictable 'string life'; Air is even more comfortable but can start to feel a bit 'mushy' as it wears out - as per Cyclone Tour - in comparison with Pro.

i've only used YPTP in 1.20mm (17g) in my crosses in my hybrid and love it!

I normally use Solinco Hyper G, and hated Poly Tour Pro. I've tried both 1.25 and 1.20 at different tensions. It's hard to control the ball and the string provided little spin, probably due to the ball stays on the string for very little time. Poly Tour Spin is actually a better rounded string that has very good control but less feel than Hyper G, PTS grabs the ball well just like Hyper G does.
To my surprise, I actually like Poly Tour Fire a lot. The ball also jumps out of the string bed relatively quickly, providing more power. But I don't feel like I lost control of the ball like I did with PTP. It is comfortable like other yonex strings and has a firm and very consistent feedback.

I switched to the Poly Tour Fire 1.25 for my cross strings with Babolat VS Team from Luxilon ALU Power. I love how the string is relatively comfortable, pockets the ball nicely, provides great spin, and holds tension very well. I initially planned to switch to the Poly Tour Pro 1.25 for my cross strings, but I felt that the strings pocketed the ball too much and the string felt too “meaty”.
Are you saying poly tour fire weighs less than poly tour pro? My gut hybrid is abit meaty compared to my poly setup so if that's the case, poly tour fire might be better for me.

PTP is like less 0.3g lighter than PTF @1.20mm on a SV 98+ on my scale, and I think that difference is more on the digital scale than actual weight difference. Dude just buy a set and try it! haha

I have been playing lately with Poly Tour Fire 17G as a cross to gut. It is not bad. It starts out nicely for a couple of hits and then drops tension rather quickly in my opinion and then settles in rather dead which I don't mind given it is very slick and I need it to tame the gut. I got two months out of my last set although it was really ready to cut out after 5 weeks or so.

I like stringing PT Fire best. It's easy to string. PT Spin is stiff. I even buy it in the 1.20, and its still pretty stiff.

Pretty close. I think the PT Fire I did was thinner. Both were really nice for stringing poly's.

How does Poly Tour Rev compare? I’m not at all familiar with Yonex polys because of their tension maintenance numbers (TW Compare Strings tool and USRSA string selector pubs).

I agree with what you indicated about PT Fire. It did drop tension fairly quickly and played pretty dead after that.

-great soft copolys at first, but then they go south
-i like REV on the first 2 weeks, but then it goes softer and softer , eventually becoming too mushy

I have not liked YPTP in any frame that I've ever played it in. PT Strike is ok but not great. PT Rev has been my favorite of all the Yonex strings I've tried but even it isn't great.
There are plenty of better strings on the market and at a lower price point: Tier One Black Knight or Tour Status, Ytex Penta Power Twisted, Head Lynx Tour, Tourna Silver 7 Tour

Never tried Rev or the others. Curious how Rev compares with PTP in regards to tension maintenance, comfort and control.

I really like the slippery nature of PT Fire but that drop off I can no longer take. My normal setup is around 57 lbs (20% Prestretch) Wilson 16G or VS Touch with PT Fire 17G at 51...
Do you think it would work if I do a manual pre-stretch of the PT Fire and then install it at a lower tension? Say 57 mains / 47 pre-stretched PT Fire crosses or something like that?

Experiences with PT Drive?
I know they're just lab numbers, but among Yonex strings it has one of the highest figures for spin potential: more slippery than PTF and with better ball grab.
Also looks less stiff (slightly more than PTP, same as PTF) but loses a lot of tension up front, so would probably have to start out stringing a little higher than otherwise.

I use it as a cross. I REALLY like it. Nice and pocketing for great control and feel. I use HDMX as my mains or also I use gut mains at times with the YPTA as my cross.

I've only used the black and it was amazing, its supposed to be lower power than Gray more control oriented. Could hit out as hard as I want and generate awesome power balls with plenty of spin and so much control & feel

Interesting, will have to check it out. What's your favorite string? 4G? I've seen you mention it several times (I'm a fan as well). Never tried Strike though

Lol I'm stuck in string heaven trying to figure that out myself but I can say my favorites are 4G, Grapplesnake tour m8, prince premier control, polytour series (strike, spin, air) and now im about to try mayami tour hex, magic twist, big spin and a tier one firewire ghostwire hybrid

these days my tennis is either hitting off the ball machine or hitting feeds to the kids so i can't convince myself i need to use string that is 17.50 a set for these applications. i string my own racquets and i'm sitting on a decent sized stash of syn guts so polytour strike seems like a luxury atm. that being said, if my wife and i were going to play a set and the loser had to do all the dishes for a year, i'm buying a set of polytour strike on the down low, stringing it while she's asleep and switching racquets after warm-up so she doesn't notice (i hit with her a couple of times while i was play-testing pts and she hated it)...
