What's the correct call?

tdhawks

Professional
I'm a singles player, very rarely play doubles. This question is based off of doubles.

Say team A is serving to team B.

Team A serves the ball and it hits the net player standing at the T on team B without hitting the ground 1st. Just flat out drills the guy - Who gets the point?

Is it the same if Team A serves and hits the returner of Team B standing at the baseline before the ball bounces in the service box?

Thanks.

Thanks, this is what I thought.

Example 1 happened in one our USTA matches the other night.

Team B was on a roll with calling service balls out that were clearly in and it must have gotten to them. One of our guys fired a shot at the net player at the T and got him in the stomach.

Note - I am not endorsing this by any means, but both teams knew the team scores were 2-2 and Team B clearly knew they were on thin ice with losing the game and the team match.

I was just told of this the other day so I wasn't sure how the point was handled.

Any netman who can't dodge a body shot when standing at the service line has bigger problems than their serve calls. They are likely near death...
