Whats the point of Goffin

The next few days will be huge. If Djokovic loses before the semis(and there's a decent chance he will) I honestly believe Federer will go on to win the title, which would be quite remarkable when you think about it.
Lot of ifs to get there though. And after Wimbledon I would worry about Fed's mental state in a final against anyone.

Not to mention you know Rafa's eyes will light up just as much as Fed's if he sees Novak fall out of the draw.

I just don't trust Nadal against Federer on non clay surfaces anymore. If they do end up meeting in the final I think Federer would relish the opportunity a lot more than Nadal would.
I see it other way round. Federer was utterly spent in Wimbledon..and Nadal was terrible.

I know Nadal wants Federer in the final. Its djokovic he fears.

Everyone is a scrub against the Big 3. 24 losses in 5 years to non-Big 3 opponents in Grand Slams (5 a year, 1.25 a Slam). Wawrinka 3, Berdych 2, Del Potro 2, and Thiem 2 are the only people to do it more than once.

Using that criterion, what's the point of every other player aside from the big 3? Haven't they won 90% of the majors contested in the last 8 years? Why pick on Goffin? Go after Raonic, Thiem, Dimitrov, Gasquet, Isner, Monfils, Zverev and everyone else as well.

I see you decided not to mention Kyrgios. ;)

I think one of wawrinka or cilic will cause huge upset...however if both get routined then we may as well just have Nadal Federer and Djokovic play a mini tournament on each surface in a round robin format.
I dont see an upset but I like your round robin idea.

The 40-0 h2h against players outside top-50 at USO stat kept being shown throughout the match and I kept having hope but his return was way too subpar to get thru that bad day
He was unwell that day as much as anything. Has anyone ever seen Roger sweat that much before that night, ever? Apparently he felt like he couldn't get air and his heart rate was too high at the end of the match.

The point, to answer the OP is simples: another gatekeeper called Daveed. Nothing wrong with being a gatekeeper and this Daveed should be so lucky to emulate Ferrer. Just ask my guy how that life is, as he kicks back with a coffee and a cigarette somewhere en Espagne. Daveed 2.0 helped l'ancien fraudeur into a polite QF Vs an even lesser pigeon.

I've watched many of David's matches, and in all fairness, I think he wasn't feeling well today. He wasn't moving like I have seen him move in the past.

But the most sad part it, Tsonga/Bird/Wawa/Ferrer/Nalby/Safin etc were troubling versions of big3 who were much better players than what they are today; but today's guys.......
realy what exactly was that much better at those versions of djokovic or nadal that you speak about ? Federer I can see it myself , his groundstrokes aren't what they used to be , but djokovic and nadal (except maybe a slight loss in speed) are the same players they were.

Nadal :-

The loss of footspeed is drastical, the guy just can't get back infinite amount of balls back with interest.

The forehand has become more & more vulnerable to heavy hitting.

The passing shots aren't that precise now, especially the passes off low bouncing balls.

The topspin on FH is declined a lot.

The stamina is declined so much, to the extent that he can't grind through the draw anymore as he gets weared down gradually.

The recovery is slower than prime. The mighty bull who could magically recover overnight from 5 hour battles is all but a tale of past.

Djokovic :-

The loss of footspeed, though isn't that much, it's clearly affecting his game. Certainly a step slower.

The ability to keep rallies alive by stretching and sliding insanely side-to-side has declined a lot; he can't prolong them forever without missing now.

The exceptional ability to redirect the ball without losing much pace on it has declined, sometimes he sprays or hits the net when trying for sudden redirection.

The balstriking power is reduced considerably. Djokovic doesn't hit that heavy ball now. However, due to his extreme precision remaining intact, he compromises it via flattening out the strokes a bit more. But playing on slower surfaces, this decline is more visible against players who can outhit/outgrind him.

The famous BackHand Down the line is now declined to the extent that he can't use it as a consistent weapon to fire winners/force errors or else he'll spray (occasionally it's still the shot to go though)

Djokovic's passing shot on stretch are becoming less & less scary for years now...

There are a few more parameters, but I'll stop it here.
