Wouldn't serving records for age groups like that mean more that a certain kid is freakishly physically developed for his age than anything else?

I think I once hit a serve slightly faster than the speed of light but the radar went all hair-wire. Since then I have tried to slow my serve down so that opponents have a chance to see it.

I serve so fast the ball was chopped into tiny pieces my by racquet strings and so the serve speed cannot be measured.

A "U" is a measure of distance usually used in measuring rack space for servers. Hence it is a good measure of height to use when quoting the height of someone serving. 1U ~= 4.5 inches, so 14U is 5ft3. That's anyone shorter than JHH

Somebody on these boards said they saw you play and you were hitting about 60-70 mph serves.

I heard of a guy who hit a serve so fast his arm flew off into the stratosphere, and is now orbiting the earth. The ball went half way to China after hitting the ground.

No, that was a girl (Dementieva), which is where the status of her serve did not go (lol).;)

yeah, I know that guy too. The problem is he is 16 years old. And we are talking about 14 and under so your example does not count.

uhh.....i'm pretty sure that's a fault

unless his original opponent was the guy from china, then of course it would be the server's point

Im about 5'9", my serve is constant around 100 in match play, im capable of more but its hard to get my confidence up to go that big. In practice i do it all the time, however i have to make quite a few 1st serves until i feel comfortable to hit my biggest, usually around 2nd set im good.

I'm not a big speed guy, but I once hit a kick serve that, after it hit inside the service box, bounced into the upper back fence...that is, the fence surrounding a toy factory in Eastern China (I was serving from a court in New York).

So that's why the old toy factory exploded.

i know this one 14 year old who can probably serve the ball over 108, maybe barely over 110. His serve is just super fast although not always consistent. He can also hit winners off both sides at maybe over 80 mph. BIG BIG hitter, and wins him lots of free points.

No, because roddick's record is the atp record. The actual fastest serve to ever go in the court was 165 hit by some random old guy (like 40 or so).
