G.O.A.T.
Lately, there has been a surge in the number of pusher threads (17 in the last 2 weeks). Golden Retriever is coming up with new theories as to how pushers have an advantage.
When I did a poll on player types, http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=115341 , only 5% considered themselves a pusher or counterpuncher. Seems like there's a WHOLE lot more pushers out there.
Granted, most players have encountered pushers. And yes, these pushers do make it difficult to win with their "style" of play. I complain about my pusher friend at times, but on the rare occasion he does take a set, I analyze what occurred. If I noticed something I did wrong, I work on fixing it. Besides, I can't win everytime.
I have no sympathy for pushers, but I respect them. They know their limits and challenge you to know and utilize your game. Why pushers play their type of game varies with each pusher. My pusher friend has lousy mechanics and tries to imitate some of my strokes and tactics. Pushers are guerrilla tennis players. You need to smoke them out and expose them.
For those that haven't done so, go to http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=115341 so we can get a better idea of player types. Then we can share war stories against pushers or from pushers themselves. Maybe we can understand each other better and try to co-exist. We are all tennis players, after all.
