What's up with Head?

Hi everyone :)

I've been looking and reading reviews about Head Microgel racquets for a while now and maybe I will consider switching to it in the future.

Well, I've notice that all the MG Prestige racquets have long bumper guard on the frame. It streches all the way from the top to the end of the frame. While the others like the extreme, radicals, instinct racquets doesn't have the long bumper guard. To me it is like somehow spoils the prestige PJ but on the other hand it is still nice looking.

Anyone knows why Head decided to put the long bumper guard on the MG Prestige racquets?

Thanks.

Eric

All I know is that I am really glad that they have such big bumper guards, as my Wilson frames looked like crap after a while due to court scuffing. My new MGPP's look great, even after a few weeks of play. Every time I have a low shot and I scuff the court, I still say 'Damn', but then look at the racquet and realize that there is no scuff.

Its what makes Prestiges..Prestiges.The CAP(Computer Aided Protection) Grommet, to protect the strings from hitting the court. Also, keeps the racquet nice from scuffs. I like it and think it looks great.

Lol. Like others' said, the CAP Grommet on every single Prestige Rackets is what gives it
's name PRESTIGE. And if you ever get a Prestige, you will actually find that CAP Grommets are pretty helpful, because unless u frame, the paint job will be fresh solid, and the CAP Grommets protect the frame from scuffs and scratches. Also, CAP Grommets do last some time.

You mean the cap grommet is removable? The string will be strung under the cap grommet or on it?

like BP said, the CAP is not a cover, its part of the grommet. its removable if u cut out the strings (just like regular grommets).

but then the prestige would be less prestige-ous

i suppose it would be, but i'm still curious as to how head's other racquets will look with CAP grommets. maybe they can do a special limited radical prestige, or instinct prestige.

You mean we can actually play without the cap grommet on it? What is the difference between having a grommet on and one that doesn't have a grommet on it?

Most racquets have grommets. Its what the strings go through. Its just that the CAP grommet is made for more protection.
