What's with ferrer's "shoving"?

What's up with ferrer shoving linesmen? He did it today in his match with Berdych, and they showed a clip where he did it previously at another tournament? He's not a big guy, and the linesmen he shoved were bigger than him. If he did this to someone on the street , he'd get punched out.

Ferrer shows his true colour

Yes, he's done it before in US Open 2012 vs Hewitt. He also pushed a line judge in the same way. He should get fined for confronting officials physically.

I guess that's why Nadal and Ferrer not best friends. Nadal and Ferrer are around each other at tennis events more than anyone else but Feliciano López won the spot of best friend (and Andy Murray).

5'9" is manlet status
What is a manlet?

5 ft 9 was the average male height in the US according to the CDC data. The Napoleon complex pertains to men who are well below average height.

Interestingly enough, Napolean himself was well above average for his time.

Well, it was a hard "nudge" and you need to see it from another angle. The linesperson was not cool with it either.
My angle is that the linesman does not need to be there at all. The player has to be ready for the point and not have to negotiate an obstacle course.

Are you being serious? Usually you are the most conservative tennis fan on this forum. No, Ferrer was the one who was wrong. The linesperson was standing on his spot and that was his chair that Ferrer just decided to use as a towel stand. Ferrer just had to walk around him, but like a jackass, he decides to push him out of the way and say something to his face.

it's a pretty crazy obstacle course, to ferrer's credit. not much space in that vast expanse behind the baseline. it's cool to throw humility towards another human being out the window in this case.

Lol! This is a completely different incident from the one I saw. My bad. Had to switch to some baby channel for my son so I missed this one. Oh my god!

He should be fined for it. Shove, nudge ....whatever - shouldn't be touching the officials or ball kids.

No seriously, I was so absorbed with my son I confused a snippet of a USO match between Ferrer and Hewitt with what was actually happening on court in real time lol

Ferrer's actions this time are really despicable. I don't get it. He's naturally competitive, but this was mean.

Ferrer was completely out of line.

There was so much contempt in his behaviour I'm surprised he didn't ask for the trainer to disinfect his hand afterwards!

Yeah, Ferrer was very angry today. He was randomly yelling at the umpire for no reason. The umpire didn't even know what he was saying because he kept yelling in spanish. Just a bad day for him, but he was very classy at the net handshake with Berdych and the umpire. The competition brought out the worst in him today.

LOL. Can't he just say he was being a jerk? He is 5 ft 9. If he was walking around in public he wouldn't look small by any means.
5'9" is generous. He's more like 5'7".

Still not that short, but since he plays professional tennis, he's around 6'1"-6'3" guys all the time...it must get to him.

Interesting theory and perhaps there might be some truth to it. We can only hope Daveed feels more comfortable in his skin in the future as he has accomplished things and earned the kind of money that 90% of tall players can only match in their wildest dreams. :)

Unacceptable. Unless you are a caveman with little manner, you simply would not do that to a stranger on a street; doing that to an official deserves fines. Never liked this loser.

Yes he's been extremely successful, and perhaps it's partially insecurity of his relative height which has fueled his ambition to world no. 3. Still, it probably has some psychological impact on him, as evidenced by his over-aggression at times.

FERRER = IDIOT...Nickname him "FERALL"

What the heck, perhaps he never learnt manners ?

I heard once that he was locked up by his coach for losing or some such reason, perhaps he was abused in such a manner and did not get decent examples to learn basic manners.

Everyone should "boo" him whenever he plays.

He should be called "Ferall".

Should have been defaulted. No I am not overreacting and kidding. This guy thinks he is so important because he hits a little yellow ball for people to watch. News flash money and fame =/= you being worth more.

Sad sad day.
