What's with ferrer's "shoving"?

If it was just one incident due to stress, pressure, heat, demonic possession, whatever it might be forgiven, but he's done it before, so i lost a lot of respect for him. He should be fined, at least:twisted:

little-big-manlet syndrome. I would have drop kicked him in the chest and sent him the dry-cleaning bill for touching my shirt with his sweaty hands

Nalbandian got defaulted and heavily fined and didnt actually even mean to
kick the line judge .. No way ferrer should get away with such ferrerocious behaviour!

almost as bad as getting coached from the stands EVERY match.

yeah, that's pretty bad, shame on Ferrer.
Almost as bad? Far worse you mean.....
Whether Nadal gets coached or not and whether you think he therefore cheats or not is one thing, but a player should never, EVER disrespect or put his hands on an official like this.
The way he does it shows blatant disrespect for the linesman and indicates he is above him.

Too bad, I really liked Ferrer so far, but this is a very big blemish on his reputation in my book.:(

That's incredible!

Looks more to me like a "I am sick of playing tennis, the tour, the matches, the whole thing" attitude.

Perhaps he will announce his retirement soon.
After he steals some kid's candy and kicks a puppy. Geez. He should save that for some after match barroom drinking. Try it in the real world and he get his *** kicked one more time!

Are you being serious? Usually you are the most conservative tennis fan on this forum. No, Ferrer was the one who was wrong. The linesperson was standing on his spot and that was his chair that Ferrer just decided to use as a towel stand. Ferrer just had to walk around him, but like a jackass, he decides to push him out of the way and say something to his face.
Unbelievable :-?
I saw the video of his sexist remarks to an umpire the other day ("girls can do nothing" was it?) and now this. Not much of a nice guy apparently.

Ferrer was completely out of line.

There was so much contempt in his behaviour I'm surprised he didn't ask for the trainer to disinfect his hand afterwards!
Exactly, the contempt in his behaviour... don't players get defaulted for swearing at the umpire?, how isn't this worse?.

Kinda funny, seeing this thread I was expecting to see Ferrer shove officials hard with them falling on the floor, because the way it was brought up, it was so awful and mean. Yet when I see the videos/images posted, it's nothing more than a slight push to put his towel back or move out of the way? What's wrong or rude about that? Nothing. Another case of creating drama where there is none, thanks drama queens!

Really? Even if you don't see it as inherently wrong, it is at the very least rude. Would it have killed Ferrer to throw out an "excuse me"? On the street, when you see someone standing where they are supposed to (e.g. crossing guard, waiter), do you just push them out of the way without even looking at them?

He's just trying to get these linesmen to get out of his way (so he can put his towel on a chair or get back to the baseline). I would do the same thing - not going to waste energy to tiptoe around stupid linesmen who don't know when to get out of the way.

Not only that, if Ferrer done that away from the tennis court to somebody he didn't know, there would at least be a confrontation of some sort if not an outright fight, and if he did it to the wrong person he'd get his teeth kicked in.

Are you serious? Walking is one of the most efficient methods of movement in the animal kingdom. Arming a guy noticeably bigger than you is more inefficient than walking around. He should have chosen the path of least resistance, literally.

It's not like this physical release helped him out in the big picture anyways.

The linesman's options

I think the linesman should have either pushed back on Ferrer, even better still given Ferrer a very tigh slap on his face or the best would have been to give Ferer a tight slap and pulled down his shorts and made fun of him by pointing to Ferrer and laughing at him.

I dont think the innocent look he sported after geting shoved will make a difference to Ferrer...errr...the DOG

Where the hell was the ball boy and why wasn't he there to retrieve Mr. Ferrer's towel?

If I were a millionaire athlete, I think I'd be pretty nonplused about having to walk all the way to the back chair to relinquish my towel only to find some geriatric clod obstructing my path. If my car were blocking a Presidential motorcade, I'm pretty sure the secret service wouldn't be nearly as magnanimous as Mr. Ferrer was in this analogous situation.

Here's hoping that ball boy never works again, and the manager responsible for on court and player services is promptly terminated.

Deliberately and aggressively laying a hand on a match official should be an automatic DQ. Plus a $10 000 fine before you're allowed to play again

The ball boy had just given him the towel, but this jerk decided that he wanted the linesman chair as a towel-stand:

I agree linesmen shouldn't be in the way, but the way Ferrer deals with it is less than commendable. Nadal, Federer, or Djokovic would never do this.

You just shouldn't be able to deliberately touch officials and expect to get away with no penalty. There is no justification to do so and allowing it even if there is no harm sets a dangerous precedent.

He should be slapped with a decent fine ($10k+) and if it happens again a holiday from tennis.

That video made me laugh. It's ridiculous. Of course he should be fined. In fact, deliberately pushing a linesperson should cost you the next point maybe game. That behavior really can't be OK.

Eva asderaki would not tolerate it.

Mmmmm... Lady Eva. I had a dream last night and she was in it. I was a bad boy and she gave me a penalty.

Of course he should be fined. The linesman is standing exactly where he is meant to be. Ferrer is p'd off, but that doesn't give him the right to push the officials.

All this psycho babble about small man's syndrome is ridiculous. How about a simple explanation. He is losing.

He is normal height for a man.

TTMR was joking :)

The linesman wasn't in the way at all actually, he was in front of his chair. Why does Ferrer think he can put his towel there in the first place, much less push the linesman out of the way?. :|

Yeah, I didn't catch that. If it's the linesman's chair that makes things much worse.

This Ferrer is turning out to be an azzwipe. No wonder Nadal is not a buddy of his. That's not a way to treat anybody.

Ferrer deserves to have someone take a dump in his tennis bag and leave a hot, steaming load. What a pushy little twerp.

Love the high school feel of that best friend theory.

credit.
Use your words Ferrer!... Just say "Excuse me", you huge freaking jerk. I knew I always hated him, and now I know why. He's the biggest idiot on tour. I'd like to see him TRY and shove me like that. I don't care if I'm in front of an entire stadium, in a grocery store, or in his own house! I'd give him the beat down he deserves... And more.

Despicable.

Well, it would be appropriate, because his grunt sounds like he's taking a dump sometimes (other times it's a barfing noise or it sounds like a creepy perv breathing heavy on the phone).

I wasn't going to go there but the topic was introduced.

Q. As somebody who has been an ambassador for the game for a long time and also on the Player Council, what do you think of the tournament not penalizing David Ferrer for shoving a linesperson during his quarterfinal?

ROGER FEDERER: I didn't see it. Speak to him. Give him a timeout (smiling). No, I mean, who cares? It happens, you know.

Disappointing. Very disappointing, Roger.
