What's your dream match

If you could take two players from any era and put them together in a match, who would they be? Why would you put them there and what surface would their match take place on?

You can also choose a fun one like I did with Federer vs Sonic the hedgehog.

My choice is Rafael Nadal vs Pete Sampras at Wimbledon with today's conditions. I would like to see if Nadal could beat one of the best S&V of all time on grass. The reason I'm choosing today's slower grass is to give Nadal a fair chance at winning.

Edit: You can also specify a technology change, like both players would have to play the match with a wood racquet.

I think the current technology, as both are sort of explosive players, so it would be exciting.

Surface.... grass! Not too hard for either of them.

Rod Laver vs Roger Federer in a 8 match series, at all four slam venues currently with both types of equipment.

Match 1: AO Wood racquets
Match 2: AO Graphite racquets

and so on.

I think Roger and Rod would win the matches where they were allowed to use the technology from their eras. Roger, would win all the matches with graphite racquets and Rod would win all the ones with wood racquets.

I like your Rafael Nadal vs Pete Sampras , especially on grass. It would be so interesting to see if an expert S&V can play in today's environment.

Otherwise, McEnroe vs Federer on grass. I'd love to see McEnroe mistified by Roger and see if he'd snap :)

This one you can do right now.

I want to see John McEnroe play Serena Williams in an update of the Battle of the Sexes. McEnroe should be in much better shape than Bobby Riggs, but Serena hits very hard. They should totally do this.

JMac 84 vs Fed 05-07 on fast grass would be mouth watering.

JMac 84 vs Pete 93-96 and 99 on fast grass would be good as well.

Borg 72-77 vs Nadal 08 on slow clay would be something to watch.

Pete 93-96 and 99 vs Fed 05-07 on fast grass (yes we had the 01 Wimbledon match but I wish it would happen more)

Safin (USO 00 and AO 04 performance) vs Agassi prime years on fast indoor would be mouth watering.

By the way the older players would be able to adapt themselves with the new technology so that way it would be fair.

Sampras in 1995 VS Federer 2005 on grass in front of a packed Wimbledon crowd! Tecchnology?? Uhm...frying-pans? Or their respective rackets.

Another awesome match would be 1992 Courier vs. 2008 Nadal in front of a packed French crowd.

This is my choice as well, but I'd also like to see Borg 1980 versus Nadal 2008 at Roland Garros with both wood and graphite racquets.

Edberg vs. McEnroe on grass.
1989 Wimbledon MSF.

Would have liked to see Edberg vs Sampras both on legit slow clay at RG & legit fast grass at Wimbledon. Both using their Prostaff 6.0.

Unfortunately, they never played on those surfaces. According to the ATP site, all their matches are hard or carpet.

Navratilova vs Serena...using wooden rackets....

It'll be a pleasure to see Navratilova nailing every volley...and Serena shanking almost everything

No Fed would win all the HCs as most if not all of Rods AO and USO wins would of been on grass.

Pete Sampras of 1997 vs Roger Federer of 2007 at Wimbledon in grass circa 1990s.

Sampras wins.

Andre Agassi of 1995 vs Nadal of 2008 at any hardcourt.

Agassi wins.

Thomas Muster of 1995 vs any Nadal at the French Open.

Who wins?
