I only have my Roddick's and a Dunlop 300G and a Wilson nBlade 98 that I was thinking of experimenting with lead with. Only racquet I have ever gone back to years later and thought how on earth did I ever play with that was a Prince Classic. What a terrible useless piece of rubbish. Can't say the Thunderstick was much better. Babolat PDs - just don't go there.

Flex point- pointless.
K88 - like the German gun, just duck when you see one.

Prestiges were a joy, but just kept snapping at the throat. Maybe should have avoided the Kevlar strings. If you have never tried one, then you have not lived.

We have a lot of similar choices

HIGH SCHOOL
1984 - Prince Pro 110 aluminum - 8th grade
1985 - Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 - 9th thru 12th grade

COLLEGE

1989 - Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 - if it ain't broke, don't fix it

USTA Tourney Play and Teaching:
1993 - Yonex RD-7 - sponsored by Yonex for a year
1994 - Dunlop Braided XL Revelation 90 - friend was a Dunlop sales rep, so I switched over
1995 - Head Pro Tour 280 - friend left Dunlop and went to Head (thank god! loved this racquet!)
2001 - Head i.Radical Midplus
2004 - Prince Turbo Shark Midplus

(took 10 years off)

back in at age 45....

2015 - Head Youtek Prestige Pro (non IG version)
2017 - Head Graphene XT Extreme Pro (current racquet)

Was a pro shop owner for a decade 1994-2003, so I am sure that I have hit with over 100 frames. I really like the Head Graphene XT Extreme Pro, but in my old age might start looking for something lighter going forward. Maybe the MPA version. I did hit with a Prince Shark Oversize when tournaments were over for the summer and LOVED it! Just wondering if its TOO light.

Had two Slazenger Rebel...wooden framed
Hit with a pro-staff (a version of the Kramer) in Senior year. Was not by any means a serious player.

Joined the USAF and didn’t play for years...got stationed in England, went to Wimbledon and got seriously hooked

-started back with a cheap black wide-bodied Kennex frame...first graphite frame good to re-groove but easy, easy power.

-Tried a bunch of frames, bought a Donnay Pro One off a Sgt that had been restationed..nice thin beam and tons of power and control

-switched to Head Radical Trysis (Bumblebee)

-Radical Twin Tube Zebra (Austrian made)...bought 4 of these

-Radical Intel
***blew my knee out and didn’t play for 3 years...just got bumped up to 4.0 and had a winning record there...
couldn’t run...was told I wouldn’t play again.

-Radical Micro-Gel...found that I was lacking something in this frame

-tried the Babolat Pure Drive (nice control and power) & Aero Pro (not a lot of control but loads of power...actually felt like I was swinging an empty sanwhich bag)

Switched to a Wilson Pro Staff..Red & White
Stable but light

Blade (black and silver...yes I bought them for the looks). Sweet frame...very manuverable..if not a touch unstable...even with tape

Wilson RF Auto...control, power, stability...no issues with the weight of the frame.

In order of chronology:

Gamma RZR 100 [1 year]
Pro Staff 85 [1.5 years]
Pro Staff 90 [1 year]
Angell TC95 [1 month]
Pro Staff 90 [half year]
Pro Staff 95 [two months]
Angell TC95 [two months] >>>>> end point.

Along the way I tried many many many modern frames, including the RF97. I can't in the least understand how Federer uses that club. I'm definitely in the classic mid camp, the nearest I've managed to scrape myself to something modern is the TC95.

Curious to know if you prefer the n6.1 with the 18x20 or the 16x18. I used the latter for almost 10 years but never tried the denser string bed.

I prefered the 16x19. I never really got my groove with the 18x20. Turned out too stiff for my taste. At the time I used it I was into multi strung tight. Also, I knew nothing about customization. I'm curious to string up something a bit more modern and bring it to my current specs. I probably won't.

The nCode was a sneaky powerful frame. I had to string it really tight to control it and even then it wasn't easy. But when you were on your game, that thing buzzed. I could carve a slice BH that would skip off the court at ankle height or hit a serve so wide it pulled the returner off the court. I think you should string that baby up with some nice rough poly and see how it hits. If your arm could take it, you would be a spin meister.

FWIW, I recently switched to a frame with an 18x20 string bed. It seems to give me a little better directional control which was always lacking on the nCode. Plus I don't feel like I'm lugging a tire iron around the court.

Legend
Wood racket that my Dad bought at the PX and sawed off to make it shorter
My Mom's Doris Hart racket and my Dad's old racket with blue paint from when he was stationed in England that had "by appointment to the King" on it - probably 16oz weight.
Sheffield X-15 steel racket (first real racket that was really mine). I thought it was great. Loved whacking balls against the backboard with that thing. My brother later got essentially the same racket, but it was a Garcia racket then.
High school-
Back to wood with Bancroft Professional (similar to a Wilson Jack Kramer with a Head-shaped grip).
Yoneyama 8500 - green aluminum (later known as Yonex)
College -
Spaulding World Cup - back to wood again
Back to the Yonex 8500
Jack Kramer Pro Staff- yes, back to wood
Afterwards -
Slazenger Challenge #1
Slazenger Challenge Graphite - wood with graphite inlays

ProKennex Black Ace (first graphite racket) - played with it for many years until the grommets wore out and couldn't get more grommets
ProKennex Black Ace 90 - Kenex gave it to me as a replacement for the Black Ace, but I never felt right with it
Kneissel White Star Twin - too light, couldn't get anything on my serve, could never get it weighted right
Wilson ProStaff 85 - played with for many years
Head Pro Tour 280 - played with for many years until couldn't get replacments

Era of racket choice instability - never quite found the perfect racket - Yonex RD-Ti-70-88, POG 25th Anniv., Prince Response Ti (had kind of settled on these), and picked up a couple of Warren Bosworth Kennex Black Aces from TW that I still use a lot.

Finally, 3 Head Prestige Pro Microgel that I'm sticking with and 3 Prestige Pro Youteks that a friend sold me cheap when she got new rackets. I'll be playing with these for a long time. I love them almost as much as my old Pro Tour 280s.
