When Djokovic beats Carlos, the hype will officially end

That will be it. If you can't take down a 36 year old on clay on his career worst surface, do you deserve the hype?. Its times like this is why Djokovic keeps playing.. To shut people up and end hype trains and break people's dreams. That and... Breaking the slam record en route. DJoker has to be salivating at the mouth of what he can achieve here. Break the hype and cement GOAT.. All in one shot

Alcaraz's hype is a natural progression for pro tennis after it was starved of superb young talent. The novelty of Carlitos who gives strong ATG-potential vibes is bound to spark interest in more and more fans.

This RG is an opportunity for Carlos, then it'll be Wimbledon, then a dozen more tournaments in the future. As long as young Alcaraz keeps winning big with some regularity, you ain't gotta worry about Djokovic stealing his thunder.

But important thing is win big titles with at least some regularity. Right?

Cement goat status by winning a tournament in an era so weak that the rest of the field has a combined total of 2 slams and one of them went out in the first round to a qualifier lol
You do realize that makes Alcaraz's entire career the laugh-inducer you believe a Djokovic-as-GOAT claim is, since the entire men's field is overpopulated by those who are the reason its a weak era, and that's exactly who Alcaraz will be playing against for the remainder of his career (however long that lasts).

Yes

I support you just to irk OP. But either W or L, both things are not going to happen and you know it. Novak is here to stay. Rest of the big 3 are dead.

The conversation shifts to big 4 if Alcaraz wins and we don't anoint a GOAT until Alcaraz finishes his career.

Djokovic might defeat Carlos of course... the funny thing is, even if Nole ends up with the slam record now, Carlos could still break the record in 10-15 years considering the field will still be weak as hell after Nole retires.

If that happens, people would know Carlos isn't the GOAT and it would show further proof that Djokovic ain't no GOAT either.

GOAThood will then rightfully be judged based on stats AND peak level, which is the norm across all sports but seems to elude a few delusional tennis fans lol.

Everyone longs for the real GOAT Federer and Normal Order tennis, not this Career Inflation crap we have going on for the last 6 years and counting

If Alcaraz as a 20-year old world #1 slam champion can't beat 36-year old broken down Djokovic on clay, I will never take this new generation seriously.
How much percentage do you give "Thor" of winning a set against Joker?

These threads make no sense lol.

If Djokovic wins it changes nothing, Alcaraz is still a great player.

If Alcaraz wins it also changes nothing, Djokovic is still gonna be a threat.
We should only be reactionary and dish out our preconceived biases at every opportunity, no?

Alcaraz is winning the channel slam, forget about Novakoldervic!

Sorry OP but Djokovic is NO lock to beat Alcaraz here. If you have been watching, Alcaraz has shown the highest level of play this event so far, there is no lock in beating that. Yes, the possibility is there, as Djokovic is the closest skill wise to do it, but by no means is certain the win here.

If Carlos plays that high octane explosive tennis, he will be VERY hard to stop.

Both need to meet first. Carlitos has a much tougher path. Tsitsipas is playing very well. I have a feeling Zverev or Ruud will win it. Both will be battered for the final if they meet.

I think they both will be fine for the final. Keep in mind that they have two days rest before the semis, so physically they will be fresh from the semis on and we have seen both have abilities to play back to back big matches. And there is no confirmation that Ruud/Rune v Zverev isn't going to be a long drawn out battle also.
