We all describe these certains levels that the players produce, and of course God Mode is the ultimate form. When one player is in God mode, you get some sensational play, but when both players enter God mode at the same time...the results in the quality of the match speak for themselves.

One of my favorite all time God Mode V God Mode match is Nadal V Verdasco AO 09. Both were in the form of their life, and to me, this was the best match either has played on a HC, purely because both were in God Mode and it went right down to the final point.

Here some highlights.

Anyone have their own fav God Mode v God Mode matches?

Federer vs Safin AO 2005 is the obvious choice. It just wouldn't a proper god-mode vs god-mode thread without that one.

Let's offer up a niche pick: Federer VS Del Potro - Olympics 2012 semi-final. This match was frightening.

Missed it. Was at an Olympic event that day. Nervously checking the score for a while.

Fed had an injury that day though

Federer VS del Potro 2009 US Open Final...

Pegasus brought forth a new type of God-mode and Roger was left flabbergasted.

Djokovic VS Federer 2012 YEC final.

Gonzales God-mode made Nadal question the meaning of life in the 2007 AO, as did Tsonga's in the 2008 AO.

RG 2013 semifinal set 5 El Nolio VS Ralph Harris. God-mode engaged. The winner????

no way. fed was clearly below par, except for his serving which was exceptional.

even with respect to his wimbledon 12 SF and F form, let alone his best form ...

apart from those already mentioned .....

mcenroe vs connors USO 84 semi. Possibly the best match ever at the USO ...

Yes way, some stretches of that match defied belief with the regularity that both players were hitting the ball centimetres from the baseline. The will power shown by both to fight their way through that match is worthy of the tag God-mode. But sure, think as you will, I agree that his pure form was better for the final against Andy Murray at 2012 Wimbledon. That match itself was God-mode engaged.

djokovic fed USO 2011 was a pretty good match alright, but the 2010 one was just about ok quality wise ....nowhere close to being very good, let alone 'god-mode'

I would also stretch it a bit and say Federer vs Nadal from AO 09. Federer's serve sucked that day, but the rallies were exceptional.

Yeh I'd agree that's a borderline pick, as would be the Wimbledon 2007 final.

No, Federer didn't play well in the 2010 match, and Djokovic didn't play all that great either.

Djokovic Fed USO SF 2010, 2011.
Djokovic DelPotro W SF 2013.
Djokovic Murray AO SF 2012
Djokovic Wawrinka AO 2013

Borg McEnroe W F 1980

Certainly not Djoko-fed USO 2010.

2011 is debatable as well, really only the 5th set was god mode from both. Even if federer fans claim "*******, blah blah blah" it cannot be denied that in the 5th set Fed was playing just about the best he could (winners galore from both players)

Djokovic-Del Potro? Del Po was certainly playing the best he could but Djokovic was not, which is why he only barely survived (Lots of UE's)

Come to think of it God Mode Fed hasn't really collided against God Mode others much.

Rome 2006 is one I can think of
WTF 2011 against Nadal but Nadal wasn't Godmode

Fed's God mode matches have usually been one sided for the most part.

What about Djoker vs. Rafa Aussie 2012? or this years French?

Djoker's level at Aussie 2012 was very high, but still not as high as it had been throughout 2011.

In the same way, Nadal plays better HC tennis today than he did at the Aussie 2012 so i'd argue that neither of them were at their best in that match.

That match was more a clash of wills, endurance, etc than ridiculously high level tennis.

I disagree slightly. Nadal was in some of the best hardcourt form of his life (taking out Fed comfortably in the semis), but Djokovic managed to weather the storm and exploit the mental edge he had over Nadal at that time.
