When playing Mixed against a lower rated female I prefer to aim right at the female

I play a lot of double (not mixed). Always amazed when someone gets a little chippy when they are crowding the net when their partner is hitting a second serve and they get a return hit right at them. You stand up there, you take your chances. Standing at the net, to me, is an aggressive position. Aggression comes with exposure. You want to play it safe, stand at the baseline.

I agree with this, but I think the problems tend to arise in events like club tournaments that are not strictly social but attract a wide range of players. I do think if you are playing someone who is not really competitive with you, you should leave some tactics in the bag. If you're a 5.0 and the opposing team are 4.0's or worse say, I think driving shots at them just because they are at the net is not called for.

The wanker that stands almost right on the T- doubles.

Total d o u c he baggery IMO, but I hit every serve down the T against the DB's that must stand right on the T (net person) in dubs.

I've not gotten the free point since High School (late 80's), but I still try.

So you could summarize everything you said in one line? Why bragging about winning the game just throwing balls in her if the point is only to attack the weak player? Make the post more general and use your sittuation as an example. The way you write seems that you wanted more than a discussion about doubles...

However is a little obvious to use this strategy, why someone would try to make the point against the best player? Is nonsense.

Unless you are talking about recreational games, and in this case IMO you should vary and play to have some fun, nothing worse than winning friends with 6x0's. Whats the point of that?

I have a theory that bored stringers at TW have contests to see who can come up with threads that can go the most pages, it's good for their SEO. The winner gets indoor playtime on their test court. Just a theory mind you, I don't want to rack up anymore bad behavior points and get banned here and actually work at my computer at work. After the second page of any thread there is no useful info anyway, just an excuse for keyboarding practice and friendly name calling and ego-bashing.

What would be cool and useful would be if they'd get some mods here from their "University" to decide who has the right answer and award TW swag like t-shirts for the best answer.

Tell me, do you vary your strategy if the opposing female is hot? I might be tempted to feed her a few sitters on unimportant points, so we could joke about it later.

ps. This is why it's always a bad idea to play mixed with your wife or GF.

absolutely. one must be flexible to survive in anything, and tennis is no different. If the woman is hot there is a much greater chance I dont hit her. I would rather hit the male in this situation. many factors at play here, so much depends on circumstances.

I always say good shot to my opponents and complement all good shots. I also like to make friendly jokes about things to keep the mood light and fun. I will also always keep it positive and calm between myself and my partner.

These fun positive qualities can usually help extend the olive leaf for any tennis shots to the body I dish out.

I recently saw a 9.0 mxd match where the 4.5 woman played well back and hit monster topspin lobs. She pretty much destroyed 2 hard hitting players all by herself from the back of the court. Her lobs landed very close to the base line consistently and then jumped high. This was probably the most I have seen the ball go over the fence in a match.

Usually the weaker player moves closer to the alley or in the alley, and sometimes closer to the net. In this situation the better player who has to cover more court needs to play like super man or they have no chance. If the weaker person moves close to the alley or almost in the alley, there's no reason to go right at them. Still hit to the weaker player but making sure to avoid missing wide.

Many times if the weaker player if much much weaker, then you hit every singles ball to the weaker player, even return of serves when they are right on top of the net. As soon as the better player gets a chance at hitting it they can make you pay by attacking your weaker player. First strike wins

If a female or anyone is playing back and hitting incredible lobs you just have to make the adjustments. short slice approach to her or drop shot her. Its really that simple. If she is doing great from the back, bring her in. If she is amazing at the net, lob her. If none of that works go right at her :)

This is a tough one, but I think 9.5 Mixed is a high level (at least to me!) and I suspect the female players know what they are getting into when they go into a 9.5 level match. If you're at the net, be on your guard.

the females get on top of the net and then get mad if tagged

even i expect to get hit if im on top of the net.

That is actually a very good tactic. I would have thoguht legit 4.5's could have handled it though. You don't see a lot of that in pro doubles because those lobs would get hit for winners, either from the baseline or out of the air.

Gut had good advice if you encounter this. Chip it low or short. Also, you might be too close to the net.
