After his R1 match when Fed was asked about who other than the usuals had a chance at AO, he mentioned Zverev, Shapovalov and Tsitsipas , in that order

He was asked who under the age of 22 had a chance. There aren't too many alternatives to the names listed!

Fed did add Khachanov at the last moment. McEnroe wanted Fed to mention ADM but it was clear Fed was not buying

It was a question without notice at the end of a match. Fed was kind of fumbling around trying to think of names (was how I saw it). They could have come out in any order because he probably doesn't carry around a list of wannabes delineated by age.

Love how he brings up emphatically his quickness, overall and at his age. Such an underrated aspect of his game. Not at the forefront like Nadal or Novak, but the guy is a panther out there.

Pretty sure Fed is not just quick but he anticipates the shots unbelievably well, that is what gives Shapo the impression that Fed is quick.

Ask Murray and Djokovic
Murray has been salty at Federer for years now and Djoker has never really liked him. Honestly top players being good friends is the exception rather than the rule anyway

when has murray been salty though? they get along fine, perhaps even more so now than before. none of them are bffs and everything but definitely genuine respect. murray and fed have even trolled each other on twitter. and well imo, the novak/fed thing gets blown out of proportion.

no one is saying they are good friends though

Yeah they have a cordial relationship. So do Fed and Djoker at the end of the day. Murray has made comments about Fed's actions on multiple occasions though - maybe out of more general frustration about scheduling and governance etc. though and Fed might have copped it because he's basically the face of tennis

Surely you jest. Do you have clue how fast Fed was in 2003-2007? He was nearly as fast as Borg or Chang. He's still faster than Shapo, who is half Fed's age.

i dont think i recall murray ever saying anything though maybe i havent paid close attention

As I remember he's said things to the effect of "why doesn't [Fed] say/do more in his position?" and has commented about Fed's frequent night scheduled matches. Maybe that was Nadal actually

lol thats interesting because i remember jamie murray saying that many players were thankful to fed for the pay increases across the field in general. obviously jamie and andy are not the same people but yeah

nadal did call out fed though for being too neutral in some of the decisions, well according to nadal anyways and not using his voice more

Yeah actually I'm pretty sure that was all Nadal. I owe Andy an apology.

A lot of people on this forum "know" that Fed being nice is just a show to be liked, he is really an arrogant SOB. How can not Shaps see this?? :D:D

I think he has had on court arrogance at times, but I think he genuinely is a very good person in real life. There is only so much you can fake.

lmao, i mean andy could have very well felt the same way but i always feel like novak and andy are less likely to publicly criticize federer, where as nadal might feel more comfortable doing so given what they have gone through. also as i recall during that time when fed was president, nadal served as vp, so it makes sense that he would feel some type of way.

fed is a shady mofo and the thing is i don't even know if he means to be. idk about on court, but i;d say its his off court press conferences during the height of his career when he was losing that were cringe worthy. some of the things, i'm like dude can it please. i think for all he has accomplished he is not as arrogant as he could be, but he has the worst habit of humble bragging, sometimes giving out backhanded compliments and being a sore loser.

Ask Murray and Djokovic
And how do you know what Murray and Djoko think? Because of statements by Becker and Djokovic father?

I can see that Djoko and Fed probably arent best friends, and thats ok:D. But does Djokovic really think Fed is an arrogant a1shole, who just acts nice to be liked 24/7? Thats two different things.

What’s your thought process behind that? I was going along he lines of him never losing and giving a push to the younger talent coking through

Yeah, I can see what you mean.

Just things like Bret beng the excellence of execution. The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. I could say that for Roger Federer. Maybe not the excellence of execution anymore.

It is possible that Novak has forgiven him (due to Pepe treatmant) nasty comments Fed has made while he was pushing his way through ranks. Murray too. So when Novak sends hearts to crowd and is speaking about love, try to imagine Fed in there too.

Lol:-D.

Well my point was that If what you state is true, then Federer isnt "acting nice" to Djoko/Murray. And it's ok not to like someone.

If Djoko/Muzz doesnt like Fed because he has said mean things to them, thats something else than not liking him because he "acts nice".

If you see what i mean...

Fed has passed that point when youngsters can harm him. There are no young Nole/Andy anymore on tour, and even if there were, it would be really low for him to be a ***** to younger generations.
It is safe for him now to be nice.

Well thats just your opinion, and you are allowed to have one:). Shaps obviously disagree.

Yeah, he has the humble brag down, but com'on...if you were one of the most dominant players of all times and people were trying to throw shade on you, you'd have to fine some nice way to counter it as well. There were a few backhanded compliments, yeah. I just think overall, for who he is and what he achieved he has taken the high road more often than not. And anyone I have ever seen that meet him off court and in person, from other pros to just people on the street, say he is extrememly gracious and personable. When people are always wanting your time, think about how invasive that would be. He just handles it well in my opinion.

Not the worst testimony. Could almost be duped. Luckily we have the trusty, hard-working sleuths of TTW to expose Fred for what he really is though: a phony and a fraud.
Is there any point to this?

I don't see TTW claiming he isn't nice.

oh no, I mean I'm just pointing out like anyone he is flawed.
