When Tennis becomes art

To me, being a pretty stroke is more about stroke mechanics than where the ball goes. None of Kyrgios' shots I would call "pretty".
His serve is beautiful, but you're right .. there are not many strokes in the modern game that fit the description of art like a Rosewall slice backhand or Edberg volley. Federer backhand smash would be up there.

Wawrinka's backhand, pretty much all of Nalbandian's game, etc. There are still a few artistic shots from recent times.

Well, his serve is a splendid shot to watch, but I agree nonetheless. He does occasional entertaining trick shots but I wouldn't call them art. Perhaps I'm being elitist, though.
