...but seriously folks, does Murray have a chance based on what you've seen so far? Any sign his game has anything new that could give Djokovic trouble?

Disappointing. Murray - Monfils could have been good if Monfils had brought the game he had in Doha.

I still don't see Murray beating Djokovic. Just like Rafa, Djokovic does everything Murray does a little better.

And I think Tsonga will beat Murray and be Djokovic's SF opponent.

Well he seems more mentally stable, and many would argue that his head, not his ability or style of play, is what has prevented him from getting a major title. he can make the finals, which says a lot. There has been much less muscle-grabbing/complaining and cursing so far this tournament. I know he hasn't really been tested yet, but that has to be a good sign.

One of the commentators made a very good point about Lendl as a coach. Lendl isn't a coach by trade, and he does not need to rely on this "job" to live more than comfortably. Murray knows this and I think he really is playing with more maturity to gain Lendl's respect. Lendl was one of the most mentally tough guys ever to play, and Murray knows Lendl can pack up and leave whenever he wants. I really think this was a great move for Murray, and pusher or not, whatever is happening with his career right now will only create positive changes. He's reached slam finals; the only next step is to win one...

Didn't really address this part. Answer: NO. haha. Djokovic is a robot right now, but never count out a top 10 player to beat any opponent on any given day...

Assuming they both make it to the semi, with a heavy heart I'll be voting for Djokovic to win.

I support Murray and would love him to get to the final, but however you choose to analyse things it still comes down to the fact he's not quite as good as Novak.

But....Andy is streets ahead of nearly everyone else below him in the rankings. He hasn't got to where he is with 20-odd titles to his name for no reason. And AO is historically his best slam.

He could still pose some serious problems to the Djokovic game if he's fully hooked up and in the right mood.

If the final here is Federer-Djokovic, Murray will have a tough time climbing to no. 2 this year, something that would really help his chances to win a slam. I think he'll like his chances vs. grandpa in a best of 5 format right now.

I think the mental game looks better. Also, skill wise he was foaming at the mouth for Djoker in Cinci or Montreal (cant remember which) last year right before the USO when Djoker retired in that match. Granted we all know its different for Murray in GS but interestingly enough after his SF in USO he thumped Nadal in Tokyo and was playing w/heavy serves and some serious offense. I actually think right now he is developing his groove/rhythm and may very well start putting more offense out there. I think he wants Djoker in the SF and will beat him. Plus if he wins this year's AO, most likely will have to knock out Tsonga, Djoker, and either Rafa or Fed...that should hopefully quiet all of his critics by then.

Murray 4-1 double break up but actually the level by both guys isnt very impressive plenty of breaks and unforced errors, I have a feeling hes just playing as well as he needs to so cant read too much into this, but this certainly is not evidence of the form needed to beat the big 3.

Good post.

It really is this guy in the 4th round is a very bad day for tennis
Goofy stuff like this happens at the AO because it's early in the year. Murray is this year's recipient of a nice draw.

Can't wait for the Gasquet - Ferrer match. The one men's match today that might be a decent contest.

LOL. David Mercer just said on commentary that Andy Murray had a tougher time being grilled by Jim Courier than with the match against Kukushkin

I said the same thing after Tomic won Dolgo.

Why does Courier does these interviews? why not an Aussie tv guy or gal?

Agree with that good to see Gasquet playing some great tennis if he holds his nerve it could be a great match but with Gasquet that is always a big IF

I was wandering that, in England we have Sue Barker in the states Mary Joe Fernandez, Courier is cool but why does he do on court interviews in Australia?

Because Courier is the main commentator on 7, the Australian network that broadcasts the Australian Open.
