The 2012 Shanghai final is the most memorable for me personally and not in a good way.

Up to that point, Murray was on a bit of a roll against Djokovic (beating him that year at the Olympics and US Open) and if he had kept up that momentum by converting 1 of those 5 championship points he held in Shanghai I firmly believe he would have started to get into Djokovic's head and it would have cast doubt on Djokovic's confidence against him in future meetings eg. 2013 AO final.

But it was not to be......Andy screwed it up big time!!!:rolleyes:

It's 40-15, double match point. The crowd, fully behind Fed, is in a crazed frenzy. Novak simply nods, as if he knew what was about to unfold

I watched the British (?) broadcast. The commentators (barely hiding that they are fully behind Fed as well) sounded dejected from The Return all the way up to Djokovic winning the match. *chef's kiss*

US Open 11. Federer was spectacularly dumb in 2010 and 2019 and let him back into matches he never should have been in. All my memories of 2011 are good ones. I don't know that I really view the Nadal match as a comeback in the same way... Being down a break in the 5th? Big deal.

Wimbledon 19 will undoubtedly be the most memorable match in Federer's career in 50 years. and therefore they will also remember their victimizer Nole, and of course the one finger blonde lady.

Today, July 14, marks the 3rd anniversary of that memorable match.

Djokovic never saved match points in the AO 2012 final.
He was down 2-4 in the last set, then 4-5. But no match point. Nadal didn't serve for the match and wasn't even 2 points away.

Wim 19 is the most memorable of those matches given all that was at stake but is it really a comeback victory? For all the talk that Fed played better and Novak was lucky the reality is that Fed was never ahead in that match until practically the end. Novak simply dominated when it really mattered (TBs) and was ahead most of the match and had the early break In the fifth.

I've always said Murray playing that stupid defensive game would cost him and this was the perfect example! That beautiful lob over Novak where he had pretty much had given up said it all! Murray stayed well behind the baseline letting Novak get away with a "tweener" on MP winning in the end in 3 sets! Murray broke more than a racket or 2 in that match! lol! :notworthy: :giggle::D:laughing::-D

True, but it was still a comeback where Nadal turned purple when he missed that passing shot a truck could have driven thru allowing the break back! LOL! :giggle::D:laughing::-D

I was appalled at the inequities where even the commentators were "for Federer" at that Wimbledon final in 2019! The masses were rude AF IMO!:giggle::D:laughing::-D

Sure he did. He completely went off the boil TWICE after getting up a set. He's done it so many times in his career where he goes to sleep after getting a lead, but that was the day it finally really came back to bite him in the ass, as Djokovic went into the zone in the fifth.

That match had a lot of similar patterns to the 2019 Wimbledon match, though I guess given it wasn't a final nobody thinks back on it as harshly.

That was an epic reaction from Novak. It was like the look of I’m boss and I’m gonna pull the unthinkable off haha. This was my favourite Novak comeback of all time. That epic return winner changed everything.

This is when he learned how to channel his anger into power, which is something almost every other player wishes they could do. The MPs saved in 2010 were about self-belief and courageous play. 2011 was about revenge. Pure and simple.

How many Slams does Novak have over Federer?

Hard to believe Federer was the GOAT for so long, as Nadal and Djokovic personally stopped him winning majors again and again! OTTH Novak defeated him in 3 Wimbledon Finals, 2 SF's & Final at the USO, and several times in SF's "down under!" Rafa owned him from early on embarrassing him at the FO every single time (no pun intended)! :(

It's easy to think so too with Djokovic 2010 uso sf win if that hadn't happened, would Djokovic have lacked the self belief to go on the subsequent slam winning spree? But djokovic lost the 2010 uso final to nadal, turned that rivalry around and then some. uber consistent game, balanced court position, ros, and ability to attack off both sides always gives him an edge over everyone else. Nadals the only one who figures out ways to stop him playing, as ivanisevic said, a high risk game to a small amount of court space on Djokovic fh side.
He would have come through regardless, a few points or matches could not have altered the path of his career.
