When was the last time someone beat Nadal and Djoker in the same tournament?

This is a serious question that I'd like an answer to if anyone knows. We all know how physical their games are so I was wondering if anyone has beaten both of them to win a tournament. It's never happened in a grand slam but I'm thinking that someone must have done it, sometime. So IMV if Djoker and ****** are on opposite sides of the draw it will be a big ask for anyone else to win RG. Djoker wants it badly this year. He wants his career slam.

I think Nalbandian did it last but not sure. Miami or IW.

Madrid 2007.

Beat Nadal, Djokovic and Federer in the QF, SF and the Final.

After the tournament finished I thought, that it must be one of the most difficult draws ever in a M1000 tournament.

Apart form Clemant (who was not a slouch on the surface himself) in his first match he beat in succession

Berdych, Del Potro, Nadal, Djokovic and Federer.

Granted, some of those players were not the players, that they became afterwards, but still. And some were better, than they are now on hard. ;)

OMG how time is passing. I was thinking of 2007 Madrid masters:

"Before spanking Federer in the final, Nalbandian defeated No. 2 Rafael Nadal and No. 3 Novak Djokovic."

But that is ancient history now.

Thanks for the answers. I forgot about the WTF but I was thinking more of a conventional draw rather than a RR format. I thought maybe Nalbandian but wasn't sure where or if that was the last (maybe only) time it happened. Thanks Tennis_Hands. So no one has done it since 2011 when Djoker became more of a threat I guess.

Ah so the little guy did it too. But since 2011 I don't think anyone's done it. All I'm saying is that if Nads and Djoko are in opposite sides of the draw it will be a tough proposition for anyone else. I think the tournament would be more exciting if they were in the same half because then the final would be less predictable.

I doubt Nadal and Djoko will be on opposite sides. The only 2 years that happened is because they were the top 2 seeds and it was a complete impossibility to put them in same half (2011, 2012). Every other time they put Djoko/Nadal together. Can't see why it would change this year. Fed is RG's pet player. They will never put Fed in Rafa's half if they can help it. They didn't in 2011, they didn't in 2012 and I don't see why they would in 2013.

Looks like it is the impossible act in slams or best of 5 set tennis. Raf has beaten Both Fed and Joker 3 times at the same event during 3 of his Roland Garros titles.

I disagree. I think they want their Djokodal final which is a boring grindfest. But we shall see come Friday.
