When was the last time you attended a pro tennis match?

When was the last time you watched a pro match in person?

Apologies if wrong sub-forum but it seems to fit here.

I live in the US and so most of my opportunities are the summer HC season. I was lucky enough to go to the USO a few times but recently I’ve attended the Winston-Salem 250 in NC, and will get the opportunity to watch the SFs this weekend.

So, when was the last time you saw a pro match in person? It can be anything from ITF M15 to a Grand Slam.

If you haven’t seen one in a while, why not? Are you planning to go any time soon?

DC 3 weeks ago.

In fact, other than the original incarnation of the Delray tournament over 35 years ago, the DC Legg Mason/Citi Open is the only men's tournament I've attended.

I did attend WTA Toronto in the early 90s.

Hope to make all of the majors after retirement.

Ever been to Wimbledon? One of my three bucket list tournaments for sure.

I’ve heard it’s incredibly difficult to get reasonably priced tickets though not sure how true it is.
I used to go to Wimbledon often up to 2008. We used to get complimentary tickets from my husband's work, I also got tickets through the ballot once and we slept in the field a few times. We haven't bothered recently because it's too much like hardwork getting tickets.

Yeah I heard from a lady I was speaking to once through the ballot you can get much much cheaper tickets if you come at the right time.

Not been to Wimb. Intend to go at least once though.

2011 Madrid SF Djokovic vs Bellucci

i bought quite expensive tickets expecting to see the Fedal semi, but the motherf***ers flipped the schedule

never again
My god man talk about a scam.

yeah one thing I hate about tennis tickets is that it’s really difficult to buy the correct one and highly luck dependent. And it ain’t cheap. If you want to see Barcelona-Madrid you can go buy a ticket, it’ll be expensive but you’re guaranteed to see El Clasico no matter what.

in tennis you’ve got to a) predict the schedule months in advance, b) hope your favourite players are fit, c) hope for a good draw, and d) hope for no upsets. Let’s say you bought the early SF tickets at RG this year hoping for Djokovic Nadal. Sorry lad you’re getting Cilic Ruud. That’ll be €750. Lol.

Voted semi recently but not since the pandemic.

I attended a bunch of matches at the 2020 Australian Open including the Zverev v Rublev 4R and the Barty v Kenin SF.

Haven't had a chance at attending any tournaments since Covid.

I hit up Wimbledon every year. Got center court tickets once, refuse to pay that price again, will only buy the reasonably priced stuff. Think I’ve gone the past 4 or tournaments, every single time it’s the highlight of my year, and whoever I bring along tennis fan or not always enjoys it too. This year I caught Badosa, Draper, Shapovalov, and a couple other guys. Got to talk to a few umpires too, Greg Allensworth was super chill. Half of the fun is just walking around campus and looking at the gardens, it’s crazy beautiful. Best value ticket in tennis without a doubt

Almost caught the queens final, only missed it by a few hours but making sure to go next year. Will catch a few futures tournaments, remember catching Martin Damm jr at 16 and how much he impressed me, and I always go to the Miami open as well

Not super recently, but back in January this year. Went to the Melbourne summer set 250 events here in Melbourne and also Australian Open.

I used to attend the Australia Open much more than I do now. For quite a few years I would go pretty much every day of the tournament by using the after 5pm grounds passes and walking down to the tennis centre after work to watch interesting outside court matches and the odd good late afternoon match on Margaret Court Arena.

It’s getting harder and harder to get value with Australian Open tickets, but it is always great fun attending the qualifying tournament, which is free and has a “strictly tennis” feel which I much prefer in contrast to AO’s carnival environment once the main draw tournament starts.

I saw a fair amount of USO matches last year but a cool one I saw was Carlos Alcaraz (world #40 something) in front of like 90 people in Winston Salem last year. I’m really glad I got to see him in a tiny North Carolina 250 before he really blew up. He took a tactical bagel in the 2nd set which pissed Fucsovics off :-D

Also gotta say that some of my best experiences have been outer courts and or practice sessions. You can sit directly Court level for top 50 matches in early rounds of the USO, it’s insane the level of access that is available if you want it. Can’t think of any other sport that is this way.

Went to see Nadal at the USO in 2017. I was supposed to go to the Citi Open final, but had to sell my tickets last minute.

I'm going to this year's USO, though. 4 days of tennis: round of 16 and QFs night sessions.

I haven't lived in a place with a pro tournament in the last 25 years. I finally moved to an area with an WTA tournament and I was out of town for that week

Querry/Nadal and Serena/Safina US Open 2008. Definitely never gonna blow money on tennis today unless its a Sampras exo or Nadal/DJokovic's retirement match. These last few mug generations don't deserve paying viewers

We go to at least one tournament every year. USO, Indian Wells or Mubadala. However, I will say that i'm starting to feel like those days are coming to an end due to the cost of tickets. The pricing have jumped dramatically recently and it doesn't really feel like it's worth it anymore.

Over 5 years ago. Boston doesn't really have anything anymore. I have been to the US Open Twice (1998 and 2002) and I went to the Pilot Pen Open in Connecticut several times before it was shut down..think the last time I went was 2014 or 2015 (Kvitova won the last time I went but she won both years)

I used to go to the USO every year (with the occasional good fortune of having box seat tickets from my company, including for the Fed-Delpo final in '09). Have been going less frequently in the last 7-8 years as ticket prices have skyrocketed and $13 beers and $28 breaded shrimp just seems insane. With that said, will be going 2R next week :)

Eastbourne and Wimbledon ladies semi finals 2022. I also have tickets for the Paris Masters QF day. Jabeur vs Maria is my live match of the year so far. Fritz vs Cressy not far behind.

I may go watch some qualifier matches this week to get the close up vantage point... which, as you say, is pretty awesome. Just need to find the free time.

I've never attended a professional tennis match. That's a luxury for big cities. Non-big cities around the world never host ATP 500s, Masters 1000s or Grand Slams.

I was living in Madrid back in the early 2010s and could've attended some matches in La Caja Mágica at the Madrid Open, but I didn't care about tennis back then. I got interested in tennis again with the AO 2017.

Forgot I was at Madrid 2018. That's one I want to forget with Rafa losing to Theim in the QF. The pollen count was the highest I've encountered in decades. The best bit was having dinner in Rafa's restaurant, Tatel. The food was amazing.

I go to Miami every year and Toronto when it’s ATP.

Before COVID I would try to catch other tournaments when traveling

watching IRL gives a much clearer sense of what’s going on than on TV, especially if you’re there for several days. You get a sense of the form and mentality of the players. For example miami 2019 there was a lot of good foreshadowing for the next couple years

Son, As i have maintained before and I'll say it again. Post retirement i have not spent a single penny on any tennis player in any form.

It was last decade when i saw live tennis match.
