When will Novak Djokovic leave the top ten?

When will he leave the top ten?

He re-entered the the top ten following his Wimbledon title in 2018. However, has had a string of first round losses, similar to his disappointing spell pre - Wimbledon 2018. Is this the end of the Serbian legend?

When do you think he will leave the top ten?

He currently defends F points at Wimbledon.

He defends a 3R at the USO

He defends finalist points at Shanghai

He defends SF points at next years AO

I voted after Wimbledon 2025. If he makes a QF/SF or so at Wimbledon, then definitively post-Shanghai 2025.

If he can avoid Tabilo, Botic, Nardi, Arnaldi i would say he has good chances to make it to YEC
Im stuck between Wimbledon 2025 and Shanghai 2025. I definitely do not see him playing a slam final this year. And at the same time, I dont see him making the Shanghai final.

That SF points from AO. the final points from Miami should be a good buffer unless he gets a tough draw at FO/Wimb.

The grass competition is bad, save Alcaraz or Sinner, so with some luck he can make a deep run there.

Still dont see him making a slam final.

I don't know but he sure ain't playing like a top 10 player right now and if he continues losing to players that he would've beaten comfortably just a couple of years ago I'd imagine it'll probably be sometime after Wimbledon.

I won’t write him off until I see both French and Wimbledon early exits.
He just made the final in Miami.
Not a good clay court debut and showing no.

But after his 3R exit from USO - he makes semis in Australia so grand slam level hasn’t officially faded out.

On verra bien Chris. ;)

For me he will retire before leaving the top 10.
Let's remember that after Wimbledon he has very few points to defend having played so little last year at the end of the season.
I don't see Djokovic postponing his retirement to the point of losing so much competitiveness to exit the top 10.
For me he will retire next year making his last run in his favorite tournament, namely the Australian Open.
The 2026 Australian Open will be his last tournament of his career.

Makes no sense to retire beginning of the year.

I told you he isn’t making it to the QF this year at RG.

At Wimbledon a SF wouldn’t surprise me. I would be very surprised if he made the final.

If he’s done, toast like you claim: then why predict no QF for RG yet a “SF wouldn’t surprise you.”
Which is it?
I’m making no projections.
Novak is the GoAT who if it weren’t for a torn hammy would’ve made AO final lol.

I am not counting him out of grand slams until I officially see an arnaldi or Dino prizmic knock him out round 2 and 3 back to back slams.

Only because of the anaemic grass field why he makes a SF at best at W. If he runs into Sinner/Alcaraz he’s going to get a drumming

If he’s truly toast :
- shapo : good on grass and game suits the surface
- berritini
- Tommy Paul
- Ben Shelton
- Sasha Bublik

These are all guys he’d face in rounds 3/4 before a QF match up with a top 8 seed.

Again : you’re making a projection that’s going to be right eventually. After Djoker’s interview and leaked video practice session being frustrated with his game, he may hang it up sooner than predicted.

I mean I know it was 2 years ago but didn’t he not play well leading up to RG and won it in 2023? Maybe not as bad as this year losing 2R in each event.

Sometimes I feel he plays mind games and will turn it on come grand slam. But he’s also 38 years old and mentally - he’s won everything. He’s the best.

His level is still there but the physical isn’t when it comes to health and recovery to win a tournament.
I also think he’s having a mental hangover losing a tight match against Mensik in Miami where he was close to winning that 100th title.

He’ll make a deep run I feel. But after W I really think it’s over for him

Out of those guys I only trust Berrettini

Shapo is a choker. Tommy Paul is a choker. Bublik is basically a European Kyrgios. Ben Shelton can’t do it to save his life

But if he’s toast : he should lose to an arnaldi or Daniel.
You’re contradicting yourself.
“He’s toast but I can see him winning and getting to SF”.
Lol

I dont think he will play a slam final. Never did I say he could potentially win.

That’s not how Fed was done though

In the quarters, not early rounds.
When you’re late 30s early 40s: getting to the qtrs is actually quite impressive if you ask me.
So in a way : sure I think fed hung it up with his last result being a QF finish at Wimbledon at 40 is rather impressive.

Djoko making Miami Final and GS SF is pretty darn good so far this year. Neither have had a nadal level send off where they were just completely done.

Hopefully he will face one of them and the old wolf will be annihilated by one of the cubs hungry for more triumphs and successes.
:D

He is nr6 even in the race. I think he will stay in top 10 until next year. He has 1530 points currently, around 3000 could be enough to end top 10.
