When will rune make the first slam final

It's 7 slams away. I am only thinking when he will make the slam final first. In 1/2 years a lot can happen.
I still don’t see him winning a slam in the next 2 years. I don’t think he’ll improve as much as Sinner in 2 hears

Sinner 2022 - loses in straights to Tsitsipas
Sinner 2023 - loses in a tight 5 setter to Tsitsipas and was the better player but lost

Sinner 2024 - Grand slam champion

Who has improved more last season?
Because he was much worse to begin with lol, and he hasnt even acomplished half of what Alcaraz has, being two years older, its okey to root for somebody, but you were much nicer when sinner was choking day in day out, remember he Lost ANOTHER final just not long ago, keep to the ground man! The moment his plan A doesnt work hes gonna lose a lot of matches, be objective with his playstyle, hes still less complete than rune and Alcaraz even if he has better ground Game, that is not gonna be enough to dominate, that all im gonna say, we will have to wait for the year to unfold, but i Talk from watching tennis, you just Talk from stats and age, thats It man, i wont go on with this.

Andy Murray made his first slam final at age 21 and 4 months.

Since then these are the finalists ages.
Delpo almost 21
Soderling 24
Berdych 24
Wawrinka 28
Cilic 25
Nishikori 24
Raonic 25
Thiem 24
Anderson 27
Medvedev 23
Zverev 23
Tsitsipas 23
Berrettini 25
Ruud 23
Kyrgios 27
Alcaraz 19
Sinner 22

Clearly alcaraz is huge outlier and normal age to make a final post Delpo is 23 to 25.

Anyone making the final post 25 is going to be almost a freak show. Only exception is Wawrinka who won 3 slams post age 28. And 0 finals before.
Where is Nadal in this?

Yes

Rune has a lot of time but he is about to be 21. Need massive improvements but he has the skills.

Yes, he'll be 21 by the time of the next slam. He does have a lot of work to do. But Sinner is 20 months older than him and has made a lot of improvement in the last few months (whatever the naysayers say).

One challenge for Rune is that he's one of those rare players whose best tournaments are either on clay or indoor hard. That gives him a lot of good events at which to thrive, but for a very top player, it's not ideal in slam terms. I don't think Rune is close to being ready at any slam other than Roland Garros. So, there's a good amount of pressure on him to make a breakthrough at Roland Garros, knowing that he will otherwise probably have to wait a whole year for another chance.

Depending on draw, he has a decent shot at the SFs at Roland Garros, possibly beyond. Not to say he couldn't make the SF at Wimbledon or the US Open, but it's going to be harder for him, and as for getting beyond the SFs...

He is an odd case and I think he needs more tempering mentally before he ca grab a title. Maybe another year. And his coaching change MIGHT help, but not sold on that either.

What a delicious luxury at the age of 20, to know you are a wonderful talent and recognised as such, and have time to draw upon it, as you develop your abilities. Had this discussion arisen when Holger was 30 years old, I'd be a tad jaundiced about his chances but currently - there is every reason to suppose that he will realise his potential at the highest level. That said, he is likely to be well aware of the need to increase his consistency / achieve better results. It's difficult to predict these things but I believe he will win slams, but first things first. Finding and retaining momentum is key. I anticipate this season will see significant improvements in this regard. Wishing Holger well for it to happen.

@nolefam_2024 Rune has got a lot of work to do

Sinner won 4 titles in his 20 year old season
Rune only won 1 and that was due to a massive choke

Anyone who says Rune is 20 doesn’t watch tennis. Sinner could’ve been ranked higher, he had a fit Nadal in the rankings, a fit Berrettini which pushed him down to 10th

There are far too many players who didn't make slam final until they are 23/24. Even sinner made his first slam final in 2024 AO after turning 22.

Zverev made it when he turned 23. Tsitsipas when he turned 23.

Rune is portrayed to be part of the next triumvirate including Raz and Sinner. But aside from his crazy run 2 years back he has not done much. He is good at slams getting to QF multiple times but when will he get to a slam final?
Hopefully never.
