Where do the Williams' go?

If we truly believe Richard Williams' interview in the New York Post, where do Serena and Venus go from here? I would hate to see their careers end in mediocrity. They need to find their fitness and their games and get back on top. Why the Williams' don't find a personal trainer or a coach still baffles me? Billie Jean King had encouraged Venus to blanket the net, but she cannot or refuses to use such a strategy.

They have personal trainers. They have their parents as their coaches. I don't think they trust outside people much. They used to get outside coaches from time to time a few years ago.

There's always a conspiracy against the Williams. :D

In many ways it would be the natural progression that they both quietly hang up the racquets when you consider the following.

1. They have both won multiple major event titles so in one sense they can both say "been there, done that" with regard to the major events. Neither one will ever be able to match Navratilova's number of major titles so what do they have to prove?
2. They both have accumulated a huge pile of cash from playing so neither has any worries about their financial futures.
3. Both have had various physical problems. Venus has missed time playing with tendonitis and Serena's knee may or may not continue to be problematic in the future. The wear and tear of being at the top of the rankings has taken a physical toll on both of them.
4. They both have developed other interests outside of tennis and now that they can afford to do whatever they want their desire to stay the top players may have waned.
5. When they broke onto the women's tennis scene a large part of their success was due to their superior physical strength. Their competitors now are able to hit as hard the Williams sisters for the most part. The physical strength advantage they had three or four years ago has largely disappeared.
6. They may both be tired of the lengthy schedule and exhaustive travel want to have a more normal life.

Agree. At this point, they need to improve their technique to move on especially Venus. Serena will be Ok if her desire is still there.
