Where does the 2017-Present Federer rank in the Greatest of all time list?

As a Federer and Nadal fan I feel we have been spoiled over the years, especially to see these two battle away in their primes. Wimbledon 2007 was amazingly close and so was Wimbledon 2008, it was amazing to see Nadal, who's weakest surface is grass, be able to take Federer to 5 sets in his greatest years.

I feel kind of sad in a way since watching Federer from 2017, (absolutely happy that he's still playing), but the fact that the masses, media and people in general will remember Federer as he plays now and not at his absolute best say from 2005-2008 where he played perfect tennis.

So where does the current Federer rank in the greatest list? He has shortened his points, his groundstrokes are more direct and take time away from his opponents, his game doesn't look as aesthetically nice as it did in 2007 but I'd say today's Federer probably ranks fifth in the greatest list, behind Nadal, Djokovic, Sampras and Borg.

He has the ability to win slams and he has been doing so, Aus opens and Wimbledons but you also have to take into account his competition, Nadal and Djokovic, who's levels other greats didn't face.

He would have won Wimbledon in 2008 :happydevil:
Au contraire, 2017 Federer struggled and needed 5 sets to defeat a slower 30 years old Nadal who had previously played a 5 hours semifinal with Dimitrov. So he had no chance to defeat 2008 Nadal.

On the contrary, I would say 2009 Nadal would easily defeat 2017 Federer.

Before I opened the thread, I noticed who the OP was and thought to myself, 'oh this is the "As a Federer and Nadal fan" guy!'

Didn't read after "As a Federer and Nadal fan" this time. Sorry.

Ticks all the boxes. So tell me, are those top 3 lines ingrained in that head of yours? No one is going to torture you if you don't mention that Federer and Nadal part. I mean, I like the Wimbledon 2007-2008 matches as much as the next guy, unless the next guy is @REKX.

I don't know about 2017-present, but he's won 5 slams in this decade. That is pretty amazing since he was past his prime.I thought he was done after 2013.
