Today, April 7th, Djokovic has "amassed" 475 ranking points in 2017 is sits at #22 in the "Race to London" (ie, YE#1). Where will he end the year?

I say he is YE#1 in 2017. And it won't really even be close. He'll win the US Open, probably win Wimbledon, and might even win the French. He will for sure win the World Tour Finals. He'll win at least 3 Masters and finish strong in the ones he doesn't win.

Do you realise where he is now? He lost his entire motivation, he has no fun anymore in playing tennis, and is coached by a guru that has no record of ever putting someone on the right track again.

I voted for him to finish #5, but if he continues that way, he's not even making this.

You forgot to mention he will also win Cincy, and the next AO, giving him FIVE SLAMS in a ROW. aka The Sewretch Slam.

Nadal and Fedr should just retire right now before Nole comes back and scalps them both.

No way you can tell now. He could end the year at no 1 or barely in the top 10. Monte Carlo will be very telling.

Wow, another delusional Djoko fan.
He won't win a GS this year and probably not even a masters title. This depends on Rafa's mental state. Can he get rid of the mental block against Novak? If yes, then Novak won't win a clay event.
He lost his motivation for the game, he achieved everything he wanted and is in a slump.
He doesn't love tennis like Fed does, so he will have a hard time to come back, if ever.

I don't think anyone would dispute the fact that if anyone is capable of doing what you suggested...then it's Djokovic.

Djokovic is a superstar and legend of the game, at the moment though he's in a bit of a slump. Most would back him to recover from it to some extent but not sure he he's got any more multiple Slam winning seasons left in him.

Doubt he'll finish year at #1...certainly won't based on what we've seen of him thus far, thinking maybe 3 or 4 is best he can hope for at this stage of season.

Not 3 strong slam runs. He gets either FO or USO. Wimbledon has moved on from him- he can hope for SF. If he performs well on clay and gets his act together, he might be in the race for #1. If not, Djokovic's days are numbered.

I think it will completely depend on his mindset and how he holds up physically. I do think he has to come from quite far form-wise now to be a dominant no. 1 again. He has a good balance of offense and defense, but I do think it will have to move towards more and more offense at his age if he wants to get back into it, and I just don't think that can ever be his natural game just like with Nadal. Their technique isn't built around that. They take bigger and longer swings especially on the forehand side (compared to someone like Federer or Agassi), and as their defense and reaction speed decline with age, they'll be more easily rushed on the forehand. I think that's why they are dropping it short more often than before these days (and hitting forced/unforced errors of course), or at least it's a big part of it.

I think that's one disadvantage of being (aggressive) counterpunchers. Defense and reaction speed need to be sharp to execute that the best, otherwise balls will start dropping short. Djokovic is an amazing player of course but I do believe that he as well will have to start adjusting his game if he wants to be back at a top level.
