Oh I know, the wrist but he's 28 years young coming back to a much weaker tour than Delpo had to face so there's certainly opportunity.

The man is a USO champ, AO Finalist and two time French Open finalist. It's clear if he returns close to his top form he can compete at all these Slams in the coming seasons. Where would you want to see him win most?

I use 2 additional Slam metric as Wawrinka and Murray are the only ones recently outside Big 3 to win multiple Slams so there's that.

His injury is so curious....fired his physio via media announcement, blaming him for slower wrist recovery...how badly could an extremely experienced physio have messed up? went from predicting he'd be able to play again at USO last year to being out for almost a year now. that's a huge discrepancy

to be honest, I don't think Thiem will win a slam again. His brand of tennis is extremely physical...28 is not old, but all these players younger than him are stepping it up. I have a hard time seeing Thiem returning with the same match fitness as before. Then again, ATP has destabilized somewhat with Nadal's health up in the air and Djokovic's tournament entry being unclear. It feels like there will be more new slam winners this year (I'll still count Med and Thiem as new-ish if they nab another).

Thiem has shown a fatalistic attitude. Yet he is probably better than the rest of his generation, who can't to go through life without suffering from depression, having a fling with drugs or an attempted suicide, unless you want to be seen as boring and utterly incomplete.

Other than that; I really like his skillset and the way he conduct himself on court.

drugs? depression? enter agassi, fish, hingis, wilander, novacek, cash, noah, and others...I think certain people just like to pretend there weren't similar issues back in the day so they can lament the current generation more.
