Roddick won once in Montreal 03. But thats only time he ever won against federer (in an ATP match).

^^U beat me to it! anyway, fed has compiled some scary stats.

Davydenko 0-11? Ouch. Gotta hope he pulls one victory out of the hat. Then he can say, "Nobody beats Davydenko 12 times!"

Impressive list, I admit.

Anyways, I'm interested in list of players who have beaten Rog in three straight sets. I know it's gonna be short. Anyone has it?

I'm guessing what you're after is "in straight sets" so as to include the best of three format? In other words, some have probably won matches against him by winning two straight sets.

Djokovic beat roger in straight sets in this years AO semi

as did Luis Horna back in 2003 http://www.atptennis.com/3/en/players/headtohead/?player1=Federer,+Roger&player2=horna

And...byron black beat roger 6-3 6-0 on grass http://www.atptennis.com/3/en/players/headtohead/default.asp?playernum1=F324&playernum2=B397

And...Sergi Bruguera beat roger 6-1 6-1 http://www.atptennis.com/3/en/players/headtohead/default.asp?playernum1=F324&playernum2=B350

His dominance over the rest of the field is truly remarkable. With the exception of nadal, djokovic, and nalbandian, very few people have been able to figure out his game or just outplay him recently. I believe that to beat roger you must outhit him, take him out of his comfort zone (from what i can tell by the matches that he lost, powerful strokes with plenty of mixed spin seems to through him off). So few players can actually take the initiative on court to say "hes just another player, i'll play him like one". Majority of players he beats are already beaten before they take the court: "oh ****, its fed. Theres no way in the bluest of blue hells that im gonna beat him..."

I'm a big Enqvist fan but even I gotta admit those wins came before Federer hit his prime, and they were generally close... Still, Enqvist matched up well against Federer especially on fast surfaces because of his big flat groundstrokes and serves. They didn't allow Federer to construct points and set up big shots. He was good at rattling Federer, and Federer wasn't very calm on the court before 2003.

Federer loves playing "average modern baseliners", Davydenko being the perfect prototype. Few players these days have a game similar to Enqvist's, but those who do happen to be chokers (Berdych, Blake...) and chokers will always underperform against the world no1. Enqvist was also a big choker but back in those days Fed wasn't such an intimidating target.

I'm not sure but Pat Rafter may have been the only person to have never lost to Federer in 3 or more matches. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
He has played Federer only 3 times on three different surfaces (clay, hard, and grass) and beaten him all three times.
1999 Roland Garros: Rafter d. Federer 5-7 6-3 6-0 6-2
2001 Miami: Rafter d. Federer 6-3 6-1
2001 Halle: Rafter d. Federer 4-6 7-6(6) 7-6(4)

Federer is phenomenal, he's taken out way too many people consistently in the past years, lucky Gonzo just made it out of that list.

What I also find interesting is the new group of young players all managed to get at least one win on Federer:
Berdych, Gasquet, Murray, Nadal, and Djokovic.

It's not worth comparing players who beat him when he was still young and his game had not fully developed to what it has become today. The difference is remarkable.

CHANGED THE TITLE TO: Players Federer Never lost to, period.

Any additional records you wanna post i'll revise in the 1st post

Wow a thread about players who lose to Federer and Roddick doesn't fit.

And you missed Federer's lone win over Sampras. ;)

yea lol, he beat him at Kooyong, but thats exhibition

I wonder which players never won a set against him either.

The list would be very similar. They not only always lose, but also they never win a set.

The players who tend to beat Federer are typically Argentines and Spainards. Canas, Nadal, Nalbandian, these guys tend to get under the skin of Fed because they are great movers and force Fed to play his best to win. They hit with a lot of spin and power and time the ball very well, although they are baseliners, they excel obviously in other aspects of the game, unlike guys like Davydenko and Roddick who have had no success against the Swiss Maestro

thats not necessarily true. He gets beat by these people for their ability to play more than one dimension of the game, but also by mixing up the spin. Feds a great mover himself, so the movement part wouldnt be a major cause. I think its more of the fact that these players merely overpower him and hit through him. As you notice, its very hard to hit through roger federer (roddick for example) when you only play one dimensionally.
