Which Back-to-back Slams pair is more difficult to win, FO & Wimby or USO & AO or....

Del Potro has a shot to win back to back USO and AO this month, which brings to my question "Which Back-to-back Slams pair is more difficult to win, FO & Wimby or USO & AO"? Everyone raved about how impressive it was for Nadal to win FO & Wimby back to back in 08 then Federer matched it straight away in 09. Is the FO/Wimby double that much more special than USO/AO or Wimby/USO or even AO/FO? IMO, although the USO and AO are both hardcourt slams their surface speed and bounce are different and the break between the two slams are the longest so its harder for the USO champ to carry on the momentum or "aura of invincibility" into the AO compared to FO and Wimby which is only a month in between.

By far the FO-W double. The completely different surfaces have annoyed players for a long time (maybe not now).

I think the FO/Wimby double is seen as difficult because few people have done it, mainly because it is rare that an individual is good on clay as well as grass given the major differences between the surface surfaces. The other doubles wimby/uso and uso/ ao are more common. I think the rarer ones involve the FO with another surface.

Exactly why I think it might not be that special anymore since they slowed down the grass and both are natural surfaces. Maybe thats why Nadal is comfortable on both. Although when Borg won the pair they were completely different.

I agree. Interesting how Nadal achieved this in 2008 and Federer in 2009, when it previously hadn't been done since Borg in 1980.

Yeah.. was long to wait but this two guys really deserved to step beside Borg for such a great achieve. And I'm proud Rafa did it first

If Del Potro wins the AO, I believe he will be the 1st player to win his 2nd major in the major immediately after his 1st (many great players have had a year or 2 gap in between winning their 2nd majors)

I think Federer & Connors are the players who took the least amount of time to win their 2nd major.

Since the AO moved back to Jan in '87, these are the players who did the USO/AO double:

Federer(twice)
Sampras (twice)
Agassi

Well...Federer has done them all except for the AO-FO double...has done french-wimby, wimby-us, us-aussie...only one missing is the aussie-french....maybe this year? :D
