Which brand makes the highest quality bags?

I'm looking to purchase a tennis bag, and would like to know which brands generally produce higher quality bags.

I feel a simple way to distinguish higher from lower quality bags is by looking at the zippers, zippers are an easy way to cut costs and if a company uses higher quality zippers like YKK they generally aren't making cuts elsewhere.
 
Everyone says Yonex make the best bags. I don't have one handy so I can't comment on the zippers.

I have three bags. One Wilson, one Babolat, and one of the TW duffels. I tend to buy bags when I see a price I can't refuse (the Bab was $49 on TW).

Can't recommend the duffel highly enough. It's well thought out, big, cheap. And it doubles as a sweet travel bag that I plan to use for snowboarding trips this winter.

The Bab bag is great. It's the 12-pk they sell currently. Vented shoe compartment that can also fit all of your sweaty gear, great pocket layout and I like having the backpack straps on top where they don't get dirty.
 
+2 on Adidas Tour Bag - had mine for a while now and it's been great. Previously had Wilson Tour / Nike / Babolat Expandable.

I used to have the Babolat Wimbledon Edition Purestrike version of that bag. I switched to an bag only manufacture that is not sold by the forum's website so I can't post or promote it. However, it is way better than any of the bags offered by racket or shoe companies. TennisSpin guys have a review on it.
 
Yonex and Volkl make the best 6 racquet bags. If I needed a 9 racquet bag I would get the Geaux Sports one.

Babolat bags have bad zippers and I have to throw out the bags within 2 years due to broken zippers. It has happened to me at least three times in the last 7 years. I finally gave in and bought a Dunlop bag recently even though I have played with Babloat racquets for 20 years and will continue to do so. Plus I don’t know why they refuse to make a black bag that is a 12-pack. They seem to make bags in loud colors (yellow, pink, bright blue) or white bags that get dirty fast.

Looking at Babolat right now, considered their 6-pack, looks about right for me, it has thermo compartment that will hold my 2 new Pure Strike Tour. Sigh.. perhaps should get one from Yonex.
 
I bought that red/black Adidas bag as mentioned above. It’s hands down the best bag I’ve ever used. Excellent build quality, holds everything, and comfortable to wear even when heavily loaded.

I loved my old Head Titanium bag (bought it because Agassi used it). but this is definitely the better bag.

I bought a 3 racquet Babolat bag a few years ago. Can confirm that the zippers suck donkey gonads.
 
i've gone through 4 bags in the last 18 months. i don't abuse my stuff, play 2-3 times a week, and some of these bags just don't hold up. the head gravity duffel was by far the worst though. the stitching on that thing is atrocious.

have had my geau 9 pack and so far so good
 
Had Wilson, Head, Tecnifibre, and now Yonex. Yonex is hands down the highest quality of the 4, very sturdy and the zippers are smooth. We'll see how it holds up! Although I had an older 2015 Tecnifibre ATP Tour Bag and it was definitely the most comfortable, had super padded straps and cushions on the bag for your back.
 
I have a bab. 12 pack bag as does my brother. WE have each had one for over 4 years. both are basically black with a bright interior.
While I agree that the zippers could be beefier, neither of us has had one actually fail yet. we both play multiple times per week.

Biggest peeve is that the little side pocket zipper goes in the opposite direction of the rest of them such that
if you forget to close it and pick up your bag and sling it over your shoulder, everything in it will spill out.
including your delicate and expensive cell phone

What we NEED is a bag that has an open to the outside big mesh compartment that we could stuff sweaty clothes, towels, etc in.

Unless you are a Dad with the kids or a touring pro, carrying more than 3 sticks to the courts is unnecessary.

what would be the ultimate in cool is a bag that is customizable with velcro hook and loops. (like military kevlar vests)
big mesh compartment for sweaty clothes, big compartment to fresh shirts and towels
small compartment for wristbands hats, etc, small compartment for watches rings phones, wallets, etc.
biggish compartment for cans of balls, small medical kit, etc.
biggish compartment for a few water bottles, etc.
attachable shoulder and hand straps.
now THAT is a bag I would pay $300.00 for!
 
I only carry 2 racquets and am getting tired of lugging around the 9 racquet bag. I am thinking of buying a quality backpack. Is there any criticism of this that I should know about?

Am wondering if there is any reason handles need to be covered? I will store pack indoors when not playing.

Also wondering if racquet damage/scratches are increased in a backpack compared to full racquet bag.

But what if you’re like me and you bring 5 other ancient oddball rackets that you just use as conversation starters with old hackers at the club? Gotta have the 12 racket bag!

That is a pretty nice bag! I especially like the cooler compartment.
Now if only the sweaty clothes compartment was mesh so air could get to it and let the sweat evaporate before getting home...
another nice touch are the fence hanging hooks.
Perhaps they should also have some bungee cord hooks with locks so I could secure my bag to the bench, and lock it so no one could take it off, that would be the ultimate. (hee hee hee)

I tried a backpack for a short while. I did not like it. It was just awkward using a short little backpack. I need more room for items all in all. I went back to a regular racquet bag. I use a older Dunlop bag if I need to take more racquets than just two racquets, extra clothes, and towel. I have a smaller racquet bag from Tecnifibre for my two racquets (or three if I stuff them inside ) I usually take to the club or tennis courts.

Checked 6-pack Babolat bag in my club store. I did not like zippers and the overall build quality. I got a deal on Yonex 75-anniversary 9-pack so will go with that, it's not too big.
 
I was looking at some tennis bags today. I thought the zippers would be marked with the YKK on the zipper pulls. I did not notice any tennis bags with the YKK logo. I did notice some that had plastic zippers. That is sure way to have a zipper not work- plastic!
 
I have been using the Wilson Super Tour 15 for 10 months now. Quality holds up with no issues. It's compact for a 15-bag and it's a bit fiddly to get many extended racquets in there without effort.
Lot's of storage compartments and no complaints there. The backpack straps are not the best and tend to get in the way when accessing the compartments. They also have problems staying adjusted in length.
I use the black pro-staff themed bag which is great and stealthy here in criminal Sweden where you can't leave a valuable item on display in your car without getting robbed immediately.

I previously used a Head Tour 9-bag (still have it) and it was basically just as roomy with two big compartments. However, there was a lack of small compartments and the bag is not very rigid compared to the Wilson. Backpack straps are better (and removable) on the Head bag.

Is that the same version as the one I linked to above (2018) or the newer one? The straps on the 2018 version can be removed (albeit unclipped and tucked away in a hidden compartment).

Thanks for mentioning this bag, I have one on the way. For the past couple years I've been using the Yonex Pro Stand bag but have not been happy with it. The racquet compartments were too tight and without full length zippers, getting frames in and out was a pain. It always slumped over and never wanted to stand up like it's design to, and the internal shelves were pretty useless as everything would end up falling down and mixed up together.

So I sold it recently and purchased the Adidas bag that was mentioned several times in this thread. Once I received it, the first thought I had when I picked it up was "cheap". The materials felt cheap and the zippers didn't operate smoothly. It also wasn't very rigid so it didn't want to stand up, and I also didn't like how the middle compartment was just one big area with no organization...so I returned it.

Then I started looking to see what other options were available and checked out the ADV bag. I like the design and features and it appears to be made of better quality materials with better zippers. From what I can tell, I like the layout, the integrated cooler, the hooks to hang it. I never carry more than 4 racquets with me so the size is fine. They claim it will stand, but I'm not convinced because none of the bags I've had that were supposed to be able to stand actually have. But with the hooks, I'll likely end up just hanging it on the fence most of the time. I also like the fact that it's sorta non-branded. These days, I'm often carrying an assortment of frames in my bag as I'm not brand loyal and as a true holic, constantly rotating and trying new frames.

Another benefit is this bag claims to have a lifetime warranty. To me, if it'll last longer then the other bags I've had over the years (or atleast the company will stand behind it if it doesn't) then it will be worth the extra cost to me. As I've gotten older, I find myself adopting the "buy once, cry once" mentality more often as I'd rather spend a little more up front for a better quality product than have to replace it more frequently...and given how much the price of racquets has skyrocketed, in my opinion spending $200 on a quality bag doesn't seem that unreasonable. It's supposed to be here tomorrow, so I will share more thoughts on it once I receive it and have a chance to throw my gear in it.
 
The seemingly NLA Pacific Basalt X bags are durable as all get out. I've had mine for 8 years, it will probably last until I die.
 
I've noticed a lot of bags having plastic zippers. That is a big minus in my book. As much as you could use these bags the zippers being plastic will separate and never come back together again. Making them useless for me. These expensive tennis bags need good opening and closing zippers that can withstand years of use. Any tennis bag with a plastic zipper is one I will not even look at using once I see that feature.

I absolutely love it!! Hands down, the most well designed and highest quality bag I have ever owned and it’s perfect for my needs. I know people’s first reaction is that it’s too expensive, but for the quality of the bag and the design, it’s worth every penny in my opinion. I’ve been planning to start a thread dedicated to it on here because it deserves one, I just haven’t gotten around to it. My only advice would be if you haven’t already, consider putting out some more videos that really show the bag in detail with all the compartments/features, like the videos TW puts out for tennis bags. I wish you much success and hope you sell a bunch of them because it’s an awesome bag!

Grabbed one today. Have always wondered why no one makes a really good bag…. Didn’t realize someone already set out to try and solve that problem.

going to be interesting to try it out. Have wanted a non racket brand to become the leader in top quality bags for a while. Good luck adv.

how long have they been around? Looks like videos are pretty new. (I never heard of them until today)
 
I'm very satisfied w/ my Geau Axiom bag. Fair warning: it's advertised as a 9-racquet bag but that's only if you use the large, center compartment to hold sticks. Otherwise, it's really a 4-racquet bag as outer compartments can hold only 2 each which is plenty for me. I use the center compartment to hold strings, balls, water, etc. It comes with velcro panels that stick to the sides of the center compartment to allow for segmentation. Nice zippers, minimal design, and stands upright for a smaller footprint. The one I have has a thick mesh top compartment for shoes and wet clothes. I read that the mesh was recently replaced with nylon which is a disappointment since I really like having a place to air out used shirts and wristbands. It's kind of pricey for the racquet capacity but it's a smart, simple thing that I consider an improvement over regular-style tennis bags.

lol, me too... i wonder if utility bags are to men, as purses are to women... i have too many (mission workshop bags my fave).
tennis related, i have a head12pk, and a couple dunlop commuter bags (low profile, intentionally only fits 2), and a couple tennis duffels i ended up using for kid sports (was too big for just carrying racquets).
 
Being a Yonex fan, I have several of their high-quality bags. My latest is the Yonex trolley bag for longer trips. My wife and I share it, and it takes a HUGE amount of clothing, shoes, etc. rather than using two smaller bags. My personal racquet bag is an older blue model, which must be at least 15 years old. These bags wear well, and I love the pockets and other storage options for wallets and keys.
