Just wonder what you think is more aesthetically pleasing/ cooler. Skateboarding has this anti-establishment feel to it, and people usually go insane for the tricks. While tennis has its own beauty which many people on this board can appreciate.

Also, if you could be a professional tennis player or skateboarder what would you be?

Just feeling a bit weird because I love to play tennis with my brother back in the day but I also feel skateboarding is just amazing so I can't really be happy when I'm skateboarding and while I'm playing tennis I'm thinking about skateboarding. Is there a solution to this or is it Catch-22?

How many 60 year olds do see doing kick flips off local park benches?

Tennis last a lifetime + women in skirts = win for tennis.

I skated for years and in the end you just end up hurt. Tennis to me actually provides the asme sort of rush over and over again that skateboarding did without destroying my body. Plus as pointed out above the skirts for the ladies rock, and lets be honest tennis women>skateboard women. Maybe not when they are at the girl stage but get past 25 years old and the scales tip heavy to tennis.

If you wanna bang countless 17 year old girls then skate boarding is your answer.

But Id rather watch a good battle on the courts than some misty flips and 50-50 grinds.

You can play tennis at any age and look cool.

You can't seriously think you can skate at age beyond 30, 40, or 50 and look cool do you? :)

I skateboarded for 6 years when I was 10-16 or so. I wish I played tennis, skateboarding is fun but the culture is terrible. About 1% of the people who skate actually try to be good, most just do it because that's the only thing they know how to do.

I still skateboard but only to cruise around when I'm bored, I can't even do a simple kickflip anymore. I snowskate as well during the winter, but that's a totally different feeling and you don't get hurt at all in powdery snow

I'm pretty sure 17 year old girls play tennis; they sure as hail do around here.

Yea but those 17 YO arent hooking up with the boys on the tennis team. More than likely they are going after the Basketball and Football guys.

The few guys I know that skate really well had no problem with the ladies.

Hahahahaha, why do I think you'd get a different poll result if you asked this on a skateboarding forum? But since it's all opinion anyway, I think tennis is 10 times as cool. They both take a lot of discipline to stick with, I will say that. You can pick up a basketball for the first time and still get it through the hoop a few times. With these sports you pretty much feel like a two year old learning to walk the first time you try it.

I guess I'd think skateboarding is cool if I ever took it up. Nahh.. Too old for that. :)

These days, I only am amused by skateboarders when I watch huge painful fail skateboarder videos. Most of these train wrecks are by wannabes who think they can do what the pros can do or are just plain stupid like jumping off rooftops. Righhhhttt..

Exactly. If you want to hang around the worst "culture" and become a stick in the mud to society, join up with your local skater thugs.

The culture of skaters are made up of lawbreakers, goth, loners, dorks, lowlife scum of the earth etc... All skaters do is cause trouble, thats all they are good for on Earth.

I don't know to me skateboarding and breakdancing are just WAY too cool. I can't even compare tennis to them. I used to skate too but since I'm much older now tennis is all I can play. Didn't give up skateboarding because tennis is cooler. Tennis is good but not all that cool unless you dress and play like Feli Lopez or Rafa.

And of course chicks think skateboarders are sexier than tennis players. Chicks who skate are most of the time younger and hotter too. I don't know maybe I seen too many old ladies playing tennis around the block..

I don't think it's fair to generalize like this. Yes, a lot of skateboarders do get into trouble but there are a lot who are good kids too. I think the bad ones are either trying to be cool by being rebellious or they are actually bad kids in general. Honestly if they are destroying property and breaking the law, I think they would do that regardless of whether or not they skate. A lot of kids that skate do it because they like it. It's good to see kids getting up early on the weekend to go to the skatepark as opposed to sleeping in and playing video games.

Tennis is a sport that you can play your entire life, no argument there. I don't know if it's the "cooler" sport. I used to skate back in middle and high school and still do occasionally. I also play tennis. They each give me satisfaction but in different ways.

Well, let's see. At 51 I fell off a skateboard and broke my elbow. That put my tennis on hold for about 6 months. I believe tennis is now MUCH cooler!

My grandson forgives me for not skating with him anymore. :)

Snowboarding = Tennis > Skateboarding

Skateboarding is still cool, but much more painful.

I agree, Skateboarding is fun but not on the same level as Tennis and Snowboarding.

I lost interest in Skateboarding years ago, but have been snowboarding since I was 9 or 10 (about 15 years).

skateboarding is cooler until you hit the age of 21. That is the tipping point where the down side of the graph leads to a job as a dishwasher.

you can say what you want, but from both sides

all skateboarding is is wood pushing/flipping or tennis is hitting

gah. i probably said something that offended the whole tennis community here.

but I think its all about perspective.

I don't know about snowboarding being much safer than skateboarding, the worst injury I ever got in 6 years was having some kids skateboard go right into my ankle which ended up fracturing a bone in it and i had to use crutches for 4 weeks. which I only used for 3 days since they were more uncomfortable than actually walking on it

I snowboarded 5 times, got a concussion the 2nd time. started using a helmet, the last time I went out I broke 2 ribs and was in pain for months.

You go too damn fast on them things and it's so hard to judge the ground since it could be powder or straight ice and one mistake and you're done.

that's why I stick to backcountry snowskating, feels a lot more natural knowing i can jump off and tumble even on ice I don't get hurt. Maybe I just need to learn how to fall with a board strapped to my feet
