Peak Federer would slice and dice this Sinner at Wimbledon, his lanky going all out on every shot wouldn't work against someone like Fed who ate mindless hard hitters for breakfast.
Based on??
Sinner hits the ball 10-20 mph harder than peak 04-07 Federer, he moves faster, he serves better, he volleys better, and is a better tactician than Federer.
Oh, and most of all, he is clearly mentally stronger than Federer.

Federer has never (and I mean, NEVER) faced any opponent as good as peak Sinner on grass. 2008 Rafa? Yeah right. The guy wouldn't beat Sinner even on CLAY to save his life.
Peak Djokovic? Oh come on, peak Sinner is far better than any version of Djokovic ever on grass.

What are you going to say if Sinner wins this year's Wimbledon without dropping a set, crushing both Djokovic and Alcaraz in the process (which will most certainly happen)?

Just for my benefit, was this an argument you were making prior to around 7pm on Sunday 16th July 2023?

Also, just to pull some numbers completely at random, what would be the cut off point between, say, 6 years and 16 years where it would no longer be appropriate to consider age gaps between players?

Just curious, as someone who's always believed that age gaps were a relevant talking point but I seem to be seeing a lot more of it recently.
I am not saying (and never said) that 6 years age gap is negligible. I absolutely agree that it does have a notable impact on a rivalry between two ATGs. And that is why I will never consider Djokovic to be a better grass court player than Federer, even if Djokovic somehow ends up with 9 Wimbledon titles (maybe if Sinner eliminates Alcaraz and then decides to tank the following match, and this repeats for two years). Federer will always be above Djokovic on grass, as his peak level was much higher.

However, it still does no change the fact that 16 is a much larger number than 6, hence it is only logical that the degree of impact it would have on a rivalry between two ATGs would be much larger.
A 6 year age gap would mean the age gap between two students at a secondary school (someone in 6th grade vs someone in 12th grade).
A 16 year age gap would mean a teen pregnancy gone wrong.

With that being said, I would say that a ≤4 year age gap would be too negligible to be considered when contextualizing players' rivalries.

Alcaraz is 2-0 vs Djokovic in Wimbledon finals. Carlos is just better than Djokovic, no excuses?
Carlos Alcaraz will likely be one of the greatest grass players going by recent show. Nothing wrong in nole losing. Just like nothing wrong in fed losing to nole.

Peak prime is all bs. Fed is 3-1 vs nadal. Just because you think 2008 counts more than other losses , makes zero difference.

To NOW COME and try to trap nolefams is really low..

It's 1-3 fedkovic
3-1 fedal.

Now you fedal fans can cry how nole didn't beat peak fed because that is the only thing you can do.

Speculations and what ifs are meaningless.

Having said that,
in FO we have seen when both Djokovic and Nadal were at peak or close to peak
2012-2014, 2020, 2022 and 2021 (first 3 sets)

In W, I believe Fed was close to peak in 2014-15. He was destroying everybody except Djokovic

It’s literally what the thread is asking. Grok would have caught that for you had you bothered to ask it :X3:
Of course. It is asked because people have lost marbles. I am saying , they are stupid.

That is my point anyway.

Djokovic bested peak fed already multiple times.

And raz has bested Djokovic as well. We don't need to be worried.

Stopped reading right there.
That's as bad as saying that Sinner was close to peak in 2020-21.
I.e. both are absolutely not true at all.
If Sinner were really close to peak in 2020-21, he would never have lost to old Nadal on clay like he did.

Hmm, but the problem is:
1. Alcaraz is SIXTEEN years younger than Djokovic, not just six. Quite literally, Djokovic is old enough to be Carlos's father (had he been an irresponsible teenager lol)
So you’re saying 2015 Djokovic would’ve been an easier opponent for 2023 Djokovic than Alcaraz because of the much smaller age gap of 8 years?

Oh... Actually, you know what? I didn't really think of it that way. By bad.

Well, the only answer I can give is:
No, because Djokovic and Alcaraz are two completely different players.

With that being said, 2007 Djokovic trumps 2023 Djokovic.

Actually, I think I am going to have to make another thread similar to this, asking:

Which is more likely, peak Djokovic defeating peak Sinner at Australian Open or peak Djokovic defeating peak Nadal at Roland Garros?

But then, honestly, the answer seems pretty obvious.

peak Sinner at AO >>> peak Nadal at RG
peak Djokovic at AO >> peak Djokovic at RG

Hence, logically speaking, the second option is more likely.

both fed and rafa are much better hypothetical players than nole!
That's because in real life they are losers. Losers in slam race. I don't want a simpleton telling me they have 20 slams etc.

We all went into slam race, their guys lost. Only thing that matters.

Federer himself said he is playing better in 2015 than 10 years before.

NOBODY is defeating Peak Nadal at Rg as 112-4 shows and the 81 match win streak on clay during his prime.

However, Djokovic hasn't defeated even the 9th or 10th best version of Fed either at Wimby and the closest they've been to near their Peaks was 2012 and Djokovic had come into this match on a 11 match win streak at Wimbledon and as defending champ and also held 3 of the slams and coming off one his best years Ever.

This version of Fed was well behind his 2003-2009 version obviously.

So both scenarios are ridiculous but I guess this question is which is more likely, but none of them are possible.

no it is not only thing that matters. everything matters. and they lost everything, besides all titles that fed is still ahead of nole.

Close the thread, now.

agreed but that is miniscule

its simple, lets be real open and not be passive agressive anymore.
