Without hesitation, the Laver Cup.
Say what ?!

A player can participate 15 or 16 times in the WTF / Laver cup during his career. But it is only possible to participate in the Olympic Games like 3 or 4 times in a career.
Making the Olympics by far the more prestigious event !

Everyone cares about grass court season.
It clearly is the most prestigious.

Clay on the other hand is a second tier surface
HAHAHA there is no such a thing of grass court season though.Players rarely plays before Wimbledon despite extra week for the last 2 years.

I am not surprised.

Let me translate it the way you understand, Wimbledon has been Laver Cup kind of fun and full of great matches compared to RG and USO in many years.
Are you serious ?? Wimbledon was terrible this year. The only exciting high quality match was Nadal and Muller.AO was the only exciting GS this year.

Cilic-Querrey, Raonic-Zverev, Berdych-Thiem, Federer-Berdych, Sam's three consecutive 5 setters, all were decent matches.

I do agree AO stands out.

The difference between the WTF and the Laver Cup is that the former is players' job, the latter is entertainment.
Playing in the WTF is mandatory for the eight top players who qualify for it.

LOL, the only grass court tournament anyone cares about is Wimbledon. Most players play less than 3 grass court tournaments a year. Get real!

I am a Federer fan and even I think that post is BS. My fellow Fed fans are under the delusional that if it were more grass tournaments, Federer would try to pad his resume. Federer is content playing just Halle and WB.

Laver cup is exhibitionist money making nonsense- the WTF is as well but at least it has some history
It's been around longer, but it has never had Borg, Laver and MacEnroe playing key roles. That alone gives Laver Cup prestige.

I wouldn't doubt if Laver Cup becomes the big end of year event like Ryder Cup is for golf. I'd watch Laver Cup over WTF any day of the week.

Over the years the Laver cup will lose its gloss and the top players will start to skip it. The WTF will always be bigger and more prestigious.

No matter how you slice it, Rogi is greater than Rafa. 6 > 0 at WTF, 7-0 > 4-4 at the Laver Cup. :D

For Berdych, the Laver Cup is everything.

No, I mean literally, it's all he has.
Lol, Ah poor guy.
Would T.Berdych have been chosen if he were not from the host nation?
His ranking is still solid. I believe tabasco, Jo or Ferru would have been more teammatey.
I'm already looking forward to Chicago next year.

Back on topic.....prestige....this is like asking if davis cup is more prestigious than a slam. Two different things. Why choose? Love both.
Is a cucumber better than garlic? Why choose?
Love both.

World tour final, i love, bc it is the best of the best, squaring off for the last trophy of the year. Big stuff ever since the early seventies.
Laver Cup, i love, bc it is a team competition with intense mS and mD, and a lot of emotion. With mic'd players and coaches. Big crowd. Rod Laver....Watching each set! So cool. The umpire chair and the courtside benches look like the trophy. The chair umpire wears a flannel jacket. The scoring system is well-crafted.

I want delpony to heal so they can represent next year, alongside shapovalov, niko, sockie, and quisner. We have an ok team, with or without meatloaf raonic.

The WTF has a long and storied tradition, so it is more prestigious.

The current iteration of the WTF tournament is nowhere near as good as it used to be, though. It needs to get back to what it was in the past.

The Laver Cup is an amazing format. It could grow quickly in importance, and eventually start to gather prestige.

What do you make of the Fed machine delivering this homerun straight outta the gate, and doing it right in the face of ATP/ITF disapproval? Do you read this as any kind of opening salvo in an attempt to wrest some control over the Tour in the long run? It's astonishing in a way. I was wondering what the specific tipping point may have been in his career for garnering the necessary cachet.

The ATP and ITF should both be pretty worried because I see this event as a threat to both the Davis Cup and WTF respectively.

The biggest thing to me is these are "NEW" events, but unlike craps like Indian Premier League and Fast 4 they are actually events assembled by people who are students of the game. So the events are tremendously appealing as spectacle for everyday people to get the financial footing but are also not tone def to the needs of people who are hardened tennis fans / purists.
