Which is the best-looking Tennis racquet?

Angell ditched the semi-gloss used on Vantage frames and went with a full-gloss gunmetal gray (with a kind of metalflake element in it) finish on the new Angell racquets. Very sleek. I've also wondered why, decades after headguards were introduced, most manufacturers still seem to design paintjobs without regard for the fact that a headguard is going on it later. (Angell an exception, integrating the grommets in nicely).

I very much agree with your statement, ollinger.

Had a Pacific XFeel Pro 95 in my hands today - man, that is one sweet-looking frame!
For current frames, I'd choose
1) Pacific XFeel Pro 95
2) Völkl C10 Pro
3) Boris Becker Melbourne

Best of all time for me (no particular order)
Head Prestige Pro (the original)
Head Elite Pro (the green one)
Prince Graphite Pro
Wilson Pro Staff (Edberg, Sampras frame)
Puma Boris Becker Super
Fischer Pro Number One

Nice picks, Alex78. Seems as though we are having a similar taste when it comes to the looks of tennis racquets.

Like you, I very much appreciate the way Pacific designs its frames - clean cosmetics and superb finish.

The Puma Boris Becker Super has always been one of my favourites in the vintage racquet department. Very individual look due to the unique frame shape, and nice red/blue PJ (which BTW matched very well with the classic red/blue colour scheme of the Fila apparel that Becker was wearing at the time). Makes you wonder why today there are so few racquets out there with these colours.

This one has my vote:

Nice racket. I also like the new Volkl Organix 7 line, a bit radical but truly original.

+1

I like both the black/orange Slazenger V Tour racquets and the new Volkl Organix 7 line, especially the black 310 g version. I love the sharp contrast between black and dazzling orange on the Slazengers and bright neon green on the Volkls.

The Head Prestige racquets are all classy and understated. Beautiful. Love the aesthetics of most of the new Donnay racquets. I am still obsessed with the Volkl C10 Pro 2010 almost-all-yellow paint job. Also agree that the Organix 8 comment above. If the stiffness of the frame were 10 points lower, that racquet would be mine, just on the paintjob.

The Dunlop Mfil's have always been my favorite of the last ten years...when they came out they looked so good to me I had to try one, and it turned out to suit me well. I've been using an Mfil 300 ever since and am just now about to switch to an Aerogel 4D 300. Love the Mfils...

Best Looking Frames

Gentlemen and Ladies (apparently)-

The best looking racket currently has to be the Head Prestige 25th Anniversary with the Yonex Ezone XI a distant second. These are very sleek frames

As far as classic rackets go, does anyone recall the yellow and black fiberglass "Yamaha" frame? I would imagine that the designer was influenced by the success of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970's. That Yamaha racket was a pioneer in design back in the day and may have launched the daring color schemes that you see in today's market.

Perhaps the best overall company that is designing rackets today is "Mantis." Check it out and you'll see what I mean. They also play extremely well.

SCRAP IRON, you chose two racquets that aesthetically seem to live in two entirely different or even opposed worlds, yet I couldn't agree more.

The Prestige is maybe the most elegant frame of all, and the 25th Anniversary PJ is truly beautiful. Looks classy, and adds some modernity to the sleek traditional design of the Prestige.

As to the Ezone XI, I also love the looks of this racquet. With its squarish head shape, thick beam and dark colours it may appear bulky to some, but I think it looks cool, like a cricket bat or club, very powerful indeed. If there has ever been a Yonex racquet that looks like full of testosterone, this is the one.

You should write copy for TW.

photos of any of these sticks?

The PK Redondo heritage series deserves a mention. Although I did not like how it played, I did love the paintjob.

I actually prefer the regular paint job of the Prestige (the YT version at least). I'm not so down with the clear grommets on the IG, but I prefer the metallic red of the YT over the 25th ani (not to say it doesn't look sweet though).

1) Yonex RD-7
2) Solinco Pro 98
3) Wilson Pro Staff original 85 Stars and Stripes
4) Boris Becker Delta Core London
5) Yonex Super Rd tour
6) Volkl c 10 Pro Fishcale
7) Dunlop 200 G Muscleweave
8-Head Prestige Pro( ivanisevic)
9) Yonex Cyborg
10) Yamaha Secret 04

Nice list, Cesare. I wasn't aware of some of your picks. I especially like the Yonex Cyborg. IMHO, that paint job would be a great model for contemporary Yonex frames. The current Ezone racquets seem to reflect some of that design idea though.

First, a quick shout out for the best girly looks.

Tecnifibre TRebound 295 Pro
Donnay X-P Dual Lite White 102
Wilson BLX Blade Lite Pink

One other note...

Prince O3 Speedport Black
Prince O3 Original White
Prince O3 Original Silver

I really like the paint jobs on these three racquets, but I hate the way the O-ports look.

And finally, my (not so short) list of personal favories, in no particular order and based on looks only...

Volkl Organix V1 Midplus - For whatever reason, I dig the brown PJ on this stick.

Donnay Formula 100 - Really like the red lettering on black contrast.

Donnay X-Dual Silver Lite Extended - Love how the white transitions into a lighter grey/silver on this frame.

Donnay X-P Dual Lite Black 102 - Love the white on black contrast with the lettering, grommets, and grip vs. the frame.

Dunlop Biomimetic M6.0 & S6.0 Lite - Like the white transtioning into grey/silver and then black.

Wilson BLX Pro Staff 95 - Like the Pro Staff look in general, but chose the 95 because I like the way the white grip looks better.

Wilson Blade 93 - The black paint and grip with mostly grey lettering is sweet.

Babolat AeroPro Drive French Open - Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of the APD look, but I really liked the Roland Garros edition.

Head Youtek IG Radical Pro - Love the bright orange and brown combination with the white grip.

Yonex EZONE Xi 98 - Agree with what others have said about this one.

Head Youtek IG Prestige Mid - Love the Prestige look. I chose the mid because I like the white grip and the small head size looks ever so slightly sleeker to me.

Head Youtek IG Ltd. Edition Prestige Midplus - Love this paint job. Not much else to say. Also like the white grip on the black racquet.

Solinco Pro 8 - Another smooth looking almost all black racquet.

Solinco Pro 10 Extended - Actually one of my favorites on this list. I really like the color of this racquet. It looks great.

There's my two cents (or more) on racquet looks.

Murray's current racquet looks sick. That orange with the black caps is pretty awesome. The orange looks different from the stock ones to me.

Thank you so much. Agreed on the Cyborgs, modern paint job,and yes, the Cyborg 2700 reminds me a bit of the current Ezone line.maybe, my list misses some Princes and Fischers, too.

4. The new Prestiges with the clear grommet caps
5. The Babolat Storms white with stripes
6. Always liked Rios' black Yonex too.
7. The orange nTours. I just love that shade of orange.
8. Wood always looks cool.
9. Any pink racquet. Always wanted to win a match with a pink racquet.

The Best:

1. Aeropro Cortex or GT - Always loved the sleek aggressive look, but I could never serve with Babolats.

2. Wilson 6.0 85 - The yellow stripe and leather grip makes it look even blacker.

3. Prestige Mid (any version) - Just by looking at it you know that it is designed to give you control while hitting the ball as hard as possible.

4. K6.1 95 - Much more interesting design than the newer versions.

5. Prince Tour 100

The Worst:
1. Head TiS6 (and ripoffs) - The wrong shape, you instantly know that the player cannot hit a decent groundstroke to save their lives.

2. Technifibre Samurai thing - So gaudy and nerdy.

3. New Blades - The least imaginative design ever. Pretty much just dipped in a pot of black paint.

4. Babolat Pure Drive - Good design, but I am so bored of seeing this racquet at the other end of the court.

The Donnay X line was sexy, specifically the Dark Red and Platinum.
The Mantis 295 has the all black design going on, which I like.

New 2013 Volkl Organix V1 Pro

I think the new 300 gram version of the iconic Volkl Organix V1 classic, the Volkl Organix V1 Pro, is a worthy addition to this thread. I like the glossy black coating and the sublime silver writings/Volkl logos. The racquet looks very sharp on the internet, and in reality it should even look better given Volkl's reputation for building quality racquets with superb finish.

Seems as though Volkl has taken a look at the 2013 Wilson Blade series, which IMHO is a very good thing.

Besides that, TW playtesters really seemed to enjoy the new V1 Pro. Obviously, Volkl again has managed to elaborate feel, comfort and control into a modern frame. So it might play like a Volkl, hit like a tweener while looking like a Blade. Not too bad. Can't wait to give it a try.

I think the new Volkl Organix V1 Pro is an awesome looking black racquet. The silver lettering on the black background is gorgeous.

I agree with the black paint jobs. I really like the old ProStaffs that were black w/ some color for details. I wouldn't mind an all-black PJ with a matte finish like Wilson's prototype racquets. With the Wilson name logo running down the throat. That would be nice.
