If by overtake you mean take the number 1 ranking, then no he can't. He's much more likely to lose significant ground because of how last year played out.

I voted Federer; just because I think he'll come out focused and determined to make a statement here. I also said that about him in Dubai, so I'll probably be wrong again. 
It's going to be very interesting to see how Fed handles this new found pressure. You know the tournament will be buzzing about his last couple of losses and how close Nadal is. So it will be good to see him in this situation for once.

I thought the draw was unfair. I never mentioned that Nadal would lose but it does complicate things. Nadal was able to overcome it at Wimbledon last year though.If you are so confident why the need to be whining about the draw:

I get to the same result but in a slightly different way. Nadal to the finals. As to the 4th round. Both Nalbandian and Almagro have played well since the AO and will reverse the record of the past. Thats my guess.

fed is still the man to beat. i'm far from a fanboy of his so don't mistake this for a biased opinion, but it doesn't matter if he has won a title this year or not. yes, the others are beginning to close the gap on him, and yes there is more of a chance than ever that someone can actually take him out if he's not at his best, but until we see a huge slump, and by huge i mean catastrophic coria style, i think that fed would still be the favorite in every match that he goes into for a while unless its vs. nadal on the red stuff.

I believe Federer holds the record winning streak in MS events with 29 matches, it lasted until the final of Monte Carlo 06 when he lost to Nadal.

Yeah, but he didn't win those in consecutive masters events. He won cincy in 05', then he skipped Madrid and Paris. If Nalbandian were to win IW it would be the first time a player has won 3 consecutive masters events. Unless you count the masters cup.

Thank you! I am glad somebody else noticed the fault in such polls. It really ruins the poll and the whole thread for that matter. If people would just use a little bit of brain when posting the polls it would be much better for everybody.

Uh, oh, big problem, Kevin Anderson is about to go down in the Qualies, Robin haase about to beat him. talk about a roller coaster ride in the ATP tour. and what is up with Scoville, he is in the 3rd set with Dusan Vemic, this guy is a career futures event tour guy, he can't even make into the main draw of the challenger events.

Small amount of upsets? As much as I admire your bravery, Federer losing to Almagro, Nalbandian losing to Johansson, and Guillermo Canas making the final is just too much.
