Which Multi Works Best With Pro Hurricane Tour?

Using PHT in the mains, between Tecnifibre X-one, Wilson NXT, Babolat XCel, or Tecnifibre NRG2, which one would you most recommend for my crosses, assuming I use the PHT at 16g, and the multi at 17g, and I string right around mid-tension (59/57 and 58/56)? I have a fairly heavy topspin game and a 1H backhand. Thanks again for any input.

I was seriously going to ask the exact same question. I'm finally going to order my aerostorm this week and have decided on PHT mains and either xcel or x-one biphase crosses. i play full biphase red on my pure storm tour and its magic.

I recommend the NRG2, it has great control and power. one of the best combinations i have ever seen. also the K-gut pro is pretty good but it is way too expensive.

Haha wow! Hey Aaron it always seems like you're on late with me. And no one else. :)

lol yea i can always count on you for some late night posts. roaming the forums is one of the things i do before passing out for the night.

its really funny though since i was going to ask the same exact question as you.

Haha same. It's like during the day the boards are serious and then at night they become fun.

I use PHT 17 in the mains and Prince Syn Gut Multi 17 in the crosses. Crosses always break first...about every two weeks since I teach more than I play. By that time, I'm ready to restring anyways. If you want more durability, go with a 16 gauge. Out of the choices you present. I would go with the x-1, as it lasts pretty well. I haven't tried it in a hybrid, though, only a full job.

Mdubb,

I just ordered my aerostorm and since they were out of x-cel, i went with an all tecnifibre setup. x-1 mains at 54 lbs. and NRG2 crosses at 58 lbs.

we'll see how it goes in 3 days.

Alright, Aaron--let me know how it feels. Thanks again for all of your help! Just curious, because it can actually make a difference, did you use X-1 red or natural?

i have x-1 red on my pure storm tour, which is great all around except that at the points where the mains and crosses intersect, the string loses its red color. theres also TONS of string movement. other than that, it has nice power and nice bite.

the aerostorm i ordered will be strung with x-1 17g natural. ill report back about that one as soon as i can.

I have an aero storm w PHT 17/ xcel premium 16. It was OK. A lot of control. I like Timo/NRG better though. It has more power.

Personally I think NRG is a better cross string. Xcel is way over priced. NRG is more powerful I think.

Is it usually better to get a smaller gauge string on the crosses? See my sig for my current string setup. The tension is pretty high, but I find that once I start losing a little bit of tension then I get the comfort I want. I hate stringing it low and then losing tension.
