But, but we already have Christmas wishes for Murray to win AO then RG, so Novak will be the worse member of big 4:D
Even if Murray wins the AO and RG next year, he'll still be way behind Novak in overall achievements. The Career Grand Slam isn't the be all and end all.

... If he never wins it? Let's face it, he isn't getting any younger and might not ever win it.

2009 - Nadal had lost
2011 - had set points in the first and served for a fifth
2012 - won 8 (?) games in a row and had genuine momentum
2013 - lol, need I explain?
2014 - worst claydal up until that point, won first set
2015 - up a set, break points, then had 3-4 0-40 in the fourth

Nadal lost the day after Djokovic in 2009. So I don't think that would be up there at all. I would rate it #6 in the pecking order.

#5 would be 2012. It was, after all, his first time in the final, and he'd had to fight really hard to get there. Plus he had lost to Nadal in both Monte Carlo and Rome.

The four biggest disappointments must be 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. I'd probably say 2013 and 2015 were bigger disappointments than 2011 and 2014, but all are fairly major. I guess 2011 the least so.

I'm just imagining Novak standing on the podium whilst proudly holding aloft the trophy after finally winning the title and saying to the crowd (in his best Peter O'Toole accent) "The best of them didn't come for money. They came for me!". :p

2013, by a mile.

He was a lot more closer to the title in 2013.

Seriously, Ferrer in the final?? Let him face Ferrer in 2015 final and he would have won easily. Cakewalk.

He was nowhere close to beating Stan this year. Watch the match.

Anyone but Djokovic.
Murray for AO, Rafa for just one RG, Roger for just one WMB, UO... anyone but Djokovic !

11, 13, 14, and 15 must all hurt a hell of a lot. 2011 he must have felt like it was utterly inevitable he was going to win. Soundly beats Rafa 4 times already, twice on clay, hasn't lost a match all year, has beaten en route to finals in last 2 majors...

15 obviously speaks for itself, and is the only one that comes close in terms of having that inevitability factor heading into the final, especially after he'd gotten over the Rafa bump in the road.

13 and 14 are less so, and his poor clay season in 2013 after Monte Carlo can't have helped things much. That is probably the least regretful, but his inability to capitalize on a returning Rafa, and the position he was in at the end of the match, and the whole thing with the net has to have haunted him. 2014 he went in with the relaxed approach, he had the key victory in Rome, he was playing him there for the third year in a row.

2013...the net......This year, regardless of what anyone says, was a winnable match. He was brtual and clinical that whole tournament especially in the Kokkinakis and Nadal match...Something happened in the 3rd set of the Murray match tbh. He should have dusted him off in 3 sets but took his foot off the gas and ended playing that match over 2 days. In the Final, he was just a bystander and didn't assert his game in anyway in that Final. He just allowed Stan to tee off and redline because his shots were short and not penetrating the court at all imo.

I felt that Stan wouldn't be able to keep his ultra high level if Djokovic converted that break point when Stan served for the match, at least it would have been interesting to see if Wawrinka would have been able to mentally handle such tense pressure in that case. It could have been kind of the repeat of their AO-15 encounter when Stan goated in 4th set, but after he missed backhand on bp at the beginning of 5th set peak Wawr disappeared . At the end of the day it's what it's:) RG-14 could have been the easiest victory for Nole if he was healthy because Nadal's movement looked average to Rafa's best standarts, so it would have been enough for Djokovic to play his usual game near 70-75% of his potential and routinely pounding Nad's backhand because Rafa's forehand was at its offensive best.

Djokovic's style of play on clay allows his opponents to GOAT.

Djokovic is too talented for clay. His aristocratic sophisticated flawless tennis gets overpowered on clay by ballbashers like Nadal, Federer and Wawrinka.
Clay is for the workman like talentless folk like Federer Nadal Borg etc. In some way it is my favorite surface because it showed me that people with the same base level as me can achieve so much with extraordinary hard work.

However, a surface like plexicushion with its brilliant blue hue really brings out the genius in players so it is no surprise that nadal and fed have 2 combined titles there and borg never even won there while djovak has 5.

FedalBorgrinkrray wins by ballbashing, if they're lucky they can win the match or two, on the other hand Djokovic wins by a combinative creative laster tennis which is way more reliable, hence the best tennis season ever was performed by Djoker. That's the difference all tennis fans clearly need to understand.

I say 2015. Djokovic's #1 RG nemesis was a shell of his former self this year, so it was his to lose...and he did, which may come back to forever haunt him.

exactly...fed/borg/nadal appear talented because they hit with lots of flair and all have great great hair. Djoker doesn't need the GOAT hair because his talent and natural elegance of his game speaks for itself.

Disagree. Stan just outplayed him in the final this year, there was nothing Novak could've done. 2013 meanwhile, Djokovic easily could've put the match away against Rafa but turned into Chokovic instead. The crash into the net will probably be the thing which comes back to haunt him forever, that is if he never manages to win it.

Probably something with the shoes...Djokovic can even win the matches using drunken master style...That just proves my point of Nole mastering extra combinative tennis even more...
He only played like that for like one game, so his liver was absolutely GOATing.

Just another stat in Novak's favour.

Nole ran into the net when serving at 4-3, deuce. Had he not run into the net, it doesn't mean he would have won the match, or even that game. Nerves had already began creeping into his game as he got closer to actually winning (no surprise), and if not for that mental lapse, another likely would have occurred. It's never easy taking out Nadal at Roland Garros.

And, I don't think Stan "just outplayed" him. I don't think Djokovic played anywhere near his best tennis as the pressure of winning the elusive title got the best of him.

I don't know about that. He was leading comfortably by a break, and I think crashing into the net was the turning point of the 5th set. Nadal didn't seem to have an answer until then, and I think Djokovic could've held his nerves to win the game and then serve out the match.

djovak appealing to asian crowds by using martial arts moves during his hitting. You may be right, the guy is a genius and brilliant tactician.

You're wrong. He's in prime position to win it next year. Stanimal won't be around to stop him, Rafa is a non-factor against Novak anywhere, and the rest of the field.... well I needn't say any more.

I mean just the sheer talent and fluidity needed to hit forehand winners a foot behind the service line away....incredible stuff.
Second match-point is more representive...Basically the forehand saved Djokovic's career, not only saved, but made him climbing the goat path...If not these forehands Nole might never even believed in himself that he could compete against Fedal and he himself said that he had thoughts about finishing his career in 2010...Then some noob like Sabratha comes in and says that Djokovic's forehand sucks lol...
