Which strings for Yonex Vcore 98 2023

I've tried a lot of different strings with the Vcore 98 2023, which is my racket of choice. I used the 2021 version with Poly Tour Pro, but when I switched to the new 2023 version (amazing racket, btw), I started with Poly Tour Rev 1.25 in the orange color. Rev is a nice string. Maintains tension very well, felt surprisingly soft for something Yonex says is firm/firm+, and offers decent spin. However, I don't feel the price is worth it with Rev, or any other Yonex poly. Other strings I have tried that I liked for the Vcore 98 are:

1. Luxilon ALU Power 16L (Great string, but after 8 hours, just died like no other string I've ever used. Also very expensive for what you get in terms of usage.)
2. Volkl Cyclone 1.25 (Similar to PT Rev, much cheaper, good spin, took about an hour to break in, but tension maintenance not the greatest, and felt a little plasticky)
3. Solinco Confidential 1.25 (Hated this string. Felt very harsh, made my arm hurt, took 2 hours to feel playable, decent spin though)
4. Head Lynx Tour 1.25 (Nice feel, not the softest, ok spin, good durability, works in a variety of rackets, a bit on the muted side for me, which I prefer)

The most recent string I tried has become my new string of choice for the Yonex Vcore 98 2023. Luxilon 4G Soft 1.25. This string is the creme of the crop for me. It's not the softest poly as the name might suggest. It's a little softer than the original 4G, but doesn't lose tension the way a soft poly would. Great feel, above average spin potential for a round poly, great ball pocketing, and overall a solid string for the Vcore 98, or any racket really.

For reference, I'm a 5.0-5.5 level player in my late 30s with a counterpunching game, western forehand, and two handed backhand.
 
Nice summation! Agree that Rev is surprisingly comfortable & that as a generalisation Yonex strings seem to hold tension relatively well, especially in comparison with Volkl strings - although I enjoy the playability of some of Volkl's strings.
Just be watchful of the 4GS re arm health.
(I'm mostly using PT Rev & PTP in my 2023 VCore 98+ & Prince ATS 95.)
 
SPPP at 48/45lb. Surprisingly good power without sacrificing control. Feel is just right without dampener. Too muted with the dampener
 
So, after my little arm wrecking experience in Babolat land with the PA100 2023, I decided to hop on the VCore 98 2023 train. Gotta say, super comfy, solid, and just an all-around awesome racket.

Tried out Tru Pro Black Knight first, but it didn't quite hit the spot for me (sadly). Mayami Tour Hex in the mains and Ghostwire in the crosses, both strung at 22kg. Game-changer, seriously.

Spin, control, and comfort? A solid 10/10. Volleys and overheads are on point, and those slices? Low and piercing. Loving it!

I'm still in my honeymoon phase but i couldn't recommend this combo enough.
Gonna try Yonex Poly Tour Spin next. Full Bed and with GW and PTP crosses.

I'm trying Tecnifibre 4S (formerly called Black Code 4S) on the Vcore 100 at 46/44 lbs and it gives some nice obvious shape to my shots (what people call "free spin" I guess). I've only just started trying this though, so I can't give a full review.

Also on my list to eventually try are Yonex Polytour Rev / Luxilon 4G soft / Solinco Confidential / Tecnifibre Ice Code / Restring Zero. Maybe one of those would give you the lower launch angle you want.

4G soft is a great string at 52 lb. Excellent tention maintenance.

I have a 98 coming today. I'll try out the Tour Hex idea (with my preferred wasabi x cross)

How was your test on PTrev and Lynx tour on Vcore?
 
My friend just recieved a vcore 98 and letting me test side to side with my percept 100d.

I ended up stringing the vcore with confidential 17g at 48/45. Can update once I get a session in.

I had the vcore98 2023 for 3 month now, tried different strings and tension but don't have a feel as good as blade v8 18x20. Having some inconsistency on hitting the sweet spot to generate pop on vocore, and some time I wanted to shred it hard because of frustration.

I remember the last gen vcore 98 had me wanting more as well. With the current gen I noticed my friend did add some weight at 10 and 2 but Im curious to see the update as I liked the vcore 95 update.

So far, im going from a vcore 95 -> percept 97 -> percept 100d.

I personally dont think I will switch since my 100d has been so good as of late, but always curious to try frames out.
 
I tried Gosen OG Sheep micro super 1.30mm and it's great on this frame (56/52 lbs). Especially on serves and returns.

Not sure about durability yet but just saying this racquet can play great even with very basic and cheap strings.

Glad to report that I was really impressed with the current vcore 98. My specs were lead at 10 and 2 and matching the 2 grams in the handle as well.

Strung the vcore with confidential 17g at 48/45 and was told by the doubles pair that I played up against said I was hitting very good with it. My mindset for yesterdays match was to just let the racket and low tension do all the work and it worked out.

I would probably need more time with it since my Percept 100d is my main go to and when switching back they said I had more pace and accuracy with it.
 
A deader string like Durafluxx works wonders in this frame. You can swing out confidentiality and the shape and bite off the court is great
 
I’ve spent the last year trying out a variety of strings in the 98 Tout and keep coming back to Confidential, Hyper-G, Lynx Tour, and recently Restring Zero. All great in this frame and I think this frame likes strings that are on the stiffer side. Fairly baffled at the few posts suggesting Lynx Tour being too powerful.
 
I restrung with hyper-g 16l at 53 lbs. It's another racket: solid control, very soft feel, stable and easy for serve. Now i believe more that there was a bad string job than some Lynx tour fault.
 
Just had to buy my first Yonex tennis racket Vcore 98 tour. Been playing for about 4 years with Gravity pro and I'm delighted with it (have every iteration of it). My goto string with Gpro is Lynx tour 17g champagne at 52/50lbs also played plenty with Hyper-g 17g in the past. With the Gpro I'm used to pretty low lanch angle so I'm wondering should I stay away from shaped strings (atleast when I'm more used to the frame)?

Lynx tour would be the ideal benchmark string for me but leaning towards alu power 17g as main string and maybe RS lyon 18g as a cross.
Ordered a reel of Grapplesnake tour m8 17g so intrested how that compare with lynx tour (8sided vs 6sided). Also a set of Tour sniper 17g.
Also have option to use Technifibre Razor soft 17g as a cross but I fear it is too elastic to having any control in this frame?
After getting used to the frame I want to try the "Tommy Paul" setup alu power 17g mains and natural gut in crosses to even more enchance the feel and pocketing of the frame.

This frame on paper is better suited for the clay season than Gpro so I'm excited.
 
I strung it up with Tru Pro Atomos 17 at 24kg and don’t have any issues with control. That’s 53 pounds for my american friends.
 
I just recently tried a Zero/sync hybrid in the 98 Tour and thought it was fantastic. Typically play a full bed of Lynx Tour or Confidential, but this hybrid really impressed me. I also played this morning with a full bed of ALU. Haven’t played with ALU in about 6 years and I had forgotten how great it is for that magical 4 hours.
