Which strings should I use, since I break strings a lot.

Hi,

I use an Ncode N6 midplus size and I recently had my racket strung with Wilson sensation string 16 gauge at a tension of 54 pounds. Unfortunately, the strings broke after only two 3 hours sessions. Which strings should I use for better durability? As of now, I am pretty sure I will go with Stamina DT strings (please don't name any really expensive strings, Im not into spending that much.) I have also realized, after playing with one of my older rackets, that 54 is too low a tension for me as I often end up overhitting the ball.

Also, it would be much appreciated if you could leave any comments about my racket, like tell me if its any good or not?

Thanks a lot.

The next significant move up in durability would be to a poly or kevlar string, both of which are lower powered than Sensation. This will help with both durability and your overhitting, as long as your arm can stand the extra impact forces from the stiffer strings.

try the Gosen polylon... both the 17g and 16g is very durable with good/moderate playability at a very cheap price. Another suggestion is to use a strong polyester string such as the polylon, on the mains to improve durability, while having a durable multifilimant or any other synthetic gut for playability on the crosses.

The Stamina DT will increase your durability compared to the Sensation 16. You do sacrifice some feel in going to a string of a different material, construction and thicker gauge, but for such a thick string it doesn't play too badly. The n6 demos we had at my shop were done wiht Stamina 16 and nobody had problems with how it played or the durabilty of it. So give the DT a try, if you're still busting through that, look at the poly strings. Not going to have much else choice.

go for a cheap poly like duralast or go for kevlar in a mix with titanium with the lev in the mains and titanium in the crosses at about 58lbs that seems cheap and quite durable

It doesnt sound possible to wear out in 3 hrs so im guessing you did a mega mis hit, quickest i broke stings is 10 days nxt all strings break when you mis hit though kevlar in mains shud eliminate this really.

It's possible. I just restrung my racquet last weekend and it's already worn out after like 4-5 hours of play. It all depends on your style of play, maybe you hit flat strokes? I hit heavy topspin so the string breaks quite fast.
Shawn, try hybrid(poly for main, syn for cross). If it doesnt work, well, you gotta go full poly then.

i dunno about me hitting flat! Haha! but 4-5 is crazy took me like 15 and i thought that was bad as it cost me £15 so like 25+ dollars to u! :(

By the way what did you wear out in that time it must have been soft and did mains or crosses break?

Did you say the words "cheap poly"? Let me suggest Polygut. It's cheap. It, also, plays nice.

definately a poly like bb origonal or pro hurricane

Im gona say Duralast now as I've changed my mind I will be trying some as will Jack, and Marcus probably we'll give you feedback on them they look good. By the way consider string savers and your normal setup it adds spin and increases string life, I use them :p

First, sensation is an easy string to break. It just doesn't have the structural integrity of other better multis. If you like the way the sensation felt, I would stick with a multi just strung up tighter. The Yonex 850s are both excellent for the price. Head FXP is a nice solid string with good durability. FIbergel Power is also good, but you will need to string it even tighter since it is relatively soft. If you have multiple frames of the same kind, you might want to try the Stamina in one to see how it feels. If you don't like the feel as much as the sensation, you can try one of the multis I mentioned in the other frame and compare directly.

Actually, the "feel" in the sensation strings didn't really help anything. From the first time I hit a ball with the sensation strings I felt they were weak. And yes, my opponent hit a wicked slice drive at me, and at the time I was desperate and reckless, so I took quite a swipe at the ball, in an attempt to hit a winner off his drive, and I shanked it. The string broke near the top of the frame. I think I'm just going to give the Stamina DT another try, since they lasted me quite a while and they felt a lot firmer than the sensation strings.

Also, to all of you guys who are saying "poly" and "kevlar," I wish I was educated in string talk but I'm not. The only stringing place near my house is Sportchek and they only offer three types of strings. Wislon Sensation, Stamina DT and Prince something. Once in a while I can see a cheap 10 dollar head string there too. The reason I decided to try to the sensation strings was because the guy at sportchek says it gives better feel. I asked him about durability being lower than Stamina DT, and he said it shouldn't be a big deal.

Also, I tend to hit the ball mostly flat, ever since i switched to a semi-western grip.

I Strongly recommend you use Kirschbaum Super Smash Original ( Honey) it is the most durable string on the market and thats why most of the clay courters like Gaudio use it.
