Novak sucked in the fourth set of the '16 final, if Stan didn't let his focus wander it could've been a breadstick. Fedr had a lapse too, but went for it at 2-5 and nearly levelled the set (had BPs for 5-5). That's the biggest difference, other than that the two are in the same ballpark, with a different style and story.

2016 for the result :happydevil: /troll.

Serious answer, I'd say about the same. Djoker solid in 2015, Fed not so much, and then reversed in 2016 with Wawrinka being the solid one and Novak not.

2015 for sure.

2016 was more about who last longer physically before the other broke down (literally). Stan said that it was the toughest slam he won out of all three, which says something. By the 4th set Novak practically gave up, it was up to Stan holding it together like he had to at the AO when he won that year. Whereas in 2015, Fed still somewhat made the 4th set close by threatening to restore parity after going a double break down.

2016 Djokovic arguably shouldn't have reached the final anyway given the form he was in. His draw was really shocking. Plus USO 16 is easily the weakest of Stan's slam wins.

USO 15, apart from Fed's abysmal break point conversion, had good play from both players and was a pretty decent match. I would say it was clearly better than the following year final, even though I wasn't too keen on the result!

2016 for the result.

2015 with the ugly crowd, the Federer choke job was too painful to watch.

2015 wasn’t even great to watch. Nole wasn’t at peak levels, he basically kept the ball in play with reasonable depth. Any of the better USO Fed’s IE 04-09, 11 would’ve taken it I think.

I prefer Fed just being destroyed like AO 2016 first 2 sets than a choke job like that.

I swear what I remember best from the 2016 final was Djokovic's MTO's for his injured toe. Wawrinka was feeling uncomfortable against an average at best playing Djokovic but once it became clear Novak wasn't going to raise his level, it actually was getting worse as the match progressed, Stan got into his rhythm and won because he was the better player.

The 2015 final for me ended up being painful, and at times was stupid, and just really WTF, but overall it was a better quality match. I think the majority of neutral fans would find the final in 2015 significantly more engaging.

Of course Stan totally deserved that title.Novak was better only for half an hour and managed to get the first set in TB.When Stanimal started to point to his head I saw RG 15 all over again.

You can easily replace 2015 with 2016 in these statements.

2016 USO feels longer ago to me than 2015 for some weird reason.
I feel that way too. It might be because it doesn't get talked about as much. I mean, you see a lot of Fed fans lamenting the lost BPs in 2015 but there wasn't too much to discuss for 2016. Stanimal came. Stanimal saw. Stanimal conquered.
