Why are the different? Do they result in the racquet handling differently?
The thing with the leather grips is absolutelly true. I had a terrible time trying to get them right on my ultra tourWhile my ultra tours came with the rounded Blade style cap, I once read leather grips stay put better on the pro staff style and switched them all to that kind. Not sure it practically made a huge difference though as my customizer staple gunned the starting piece of leather to the new PS caps so they probably wouldn’t have shifted even if the round/Blade style.
not sure one is “better“ than another, I just grew up playing only pro staffs and am used to that shape.
Yup, I remember when someone asked @RJYU about Fed's different buttcaps and he said something along the lines of who knows, he just installs whatever caps Wilson sends him. If you look at the Wilson buttcaps TW has for sale now, the Triad one looks a lot like Roger's, but his don't have the "notch" to pry off/open the cap...Personal preference, Fed can’t/refuses to use the std pro staff butt cap in the second photo, why are we forced to? His racquets have a different cap. They have a soft insert in the bottom and more importantly look to have slightly more rounded edges, inbetween that of the two caps shown. And yes, as per Zoolander’s post above the std Rf cap is rubbish compared to what Fed uses. Yet another small tweak that ensures we will never feel exactly what is like to swing his stick. Ps. Yes I’m a little o.c
