Which woman will win in Indian Wells, CA?

I don't see Maria Sharapova losing her streak at this event, but for the love of god, please let Nicole Vaidisova and Sharapova meet for an official match.

I voted for Ivanovic, but I'd like to see Hauntuchova win again! She's had such good luck here, plus she needs to redeem herself after blowing that lead over Ivanovic at the AO.

Again these nonsense multiple choice polls. There is only one winner.

My vote on a proper poll would be Ana Ivanovic.

No Justine.:( Ivanovic is the top seed and Hantuchova is the defending champion. Williams sisters continue to boycott this event.:???: 96 player draw with the top 32 seeds getting a bye in the 1st round. I'm going to pick Sharapova to win the title. Here is the draw:

Stop trolling, come 2009 when the WTA makes this a mandatory event. You and everyone else can talk about why they are skipping this event. And I hope they won't be bunched together like they are joined at the hips, because Venus is nothing like Serena.

i choose sharapova.
if she plays like she did at AO mayb ivanovic has no chance.

Mandatory ?? that is all the more reason for Williams to skip the event then. what better way to send a message

My heart says Ivanovic but my brain says Sharapova. I do honestly think it will almost definitely be one of the two though. Ivanovic is already convincing me she is a cut above Jankovic, and closing the gap on Henin and Sharapova.

OK i saw the main draw for women. Who are they kidding ?? Is this the most boring draw in history of women's tennis. Only thing exciting is Nicole got a new contract with Reebok and she will be showing off her new shoes on the court. and they want Equal prize money ???? please who are they trying to kid here:-?

won't really send a message...all it will do will get them fines from the wta and make them look like they think the rules need to be special just for them, which they do. I can't wait to see serena try to challenge whatever fines come down on her.....as for this event...if they were playing it I dont think they'd be much of threat as the field is so amazing this year and given their streaky results this year I think they would get blown out early...specially serena since she just won a title

You have got trolling down to perfection, but not only will any player that's eligible to participate will receive a fine; they will also not be allowed to play in the following tournament. I am not sure how it works, but it was announced sometime last year.

Williams sisters are really in a no win situation here. If they give in and play the event then they will be compromising their beliefs and principles. and if they don't play or play and tank the match then they will be fined once again. Richard Williams said he felt like they were miss treated and if so then he has a good reason for doing what he is doing.

Sharapova, she's undefeated this year isn't she?

I'm rooting for Hantuchova though, she's just meant to win Indian Wells

well I see what your saying but I think should just play and be like, if you mistreated us we are still gonna play and rock this event....but there attitude is just so negative...espeically serena when she said they would need to sit and talk about the new rule...it just aggravates me. if they were mistreated boycotting to me seems like giving in..I would respect them more if they faced it and played anyway. but I can't change your opinion, so we just agree to disagree.

I got to see Hantuchova practice today with Bammer. Dani looked good and was hitting the ball very well. Hoping to see Sharapova but Maria was nowhere to be found.

the last time they played IW they were accused of match fixing, the majority of the crowed booed serena ( who was only 19 at the time) for the entire match and during her winners celebration. there was also a section of the hecklers who yelled racists remarks. the williams probably would play IW if they tournament organizers and directors issued an apology or even tried to do something about the crowd during the match but none of this happened. and although the hate of the williams sisters now may have to do with some of their actions when they first came onto the seen there was a lot of racial hate towards the two. AOL shut down there tennis boards in 1999 because the rape and violence threats against Venus and Serena were so bad.if the event is made mandatory they still will not play.

on a funnier note take a look at this quote from back in the day when players like hingis, mauresmo, dementieva, and anna k used to bash the williams in interviews:

“I watched Serena and Venus play, and they’re not that good. They’ve been given more attention than me and they don’t know how to play points or how to win....I’m not worried about them.” -Kournikova

Nicole Vaidisova is out to Australian Casey Dellaqua. 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

Who saw that one in the crystal ball.

I had a little money on Dellaqua. I saw Nicole praticising earlier this week with her stepfather/coach and she didn't look that sharp. This is the biggest upset of the tourney so far. Not a good week for the Czech players as Hrbaty, Berdych and Safarova all lost. Stepanek faces Miryni tomorrow.

I think, looking at the draw, the Davenport has a great chance to make the final. Realistically, I think she'll get to Jankovic in the quarters, and if she beats her, I think she'll take out Kuznetsova.

I dont think she will beat Jankovic or Kuznetsova. She has beaten Jankovic once since her comeback but that was when Jelena was wearing down near the end of a long year, and Jelena then straight setted her the very next week. Kuznetsova gave Lindsay some trouble before, and now that Lindsay is a significantly weaker player then when she left Kuznetsova probably now has an edge.

I had a chance to see a few of the top seeds hit this weekend including Jankovic, Sharapova, Davenport, etc. I saw Ivanovic play her first match. Having seen all of them in action this week, I'll take Sharapova. She seems to be hitting the ball better and cleaner than anyone this week.

Daniela took the 1st set(6-1) and down a break in 2nd set.

She needs to stop playing around with that overrated girl and cut her behind in 2 sets.

Go Hantuchova!!!

Ivanovic may lose my vote..her game was so erratic against schiavone...davenport vs jankovic looks to be the most interesting quarterfinal...especially after lindsay dismantled bartoli and jankovic is playing pretty well...should be interesting

Kusnetsove up a set 6-2, and a break *3-2 against Radwanska.

Looking at this match makes me wonder how she lost so badly in Australia a few months back, granted she was making a lot more errors.

I hope Ana wins.
She had a chance at the Austrailian open, but she blew it.
I think if Ivanovic plays Sharapova in the finals, it'll be pretty even.
go ana !
