Kuznetsova is the defending champ. I'm picking Justine to win. Mauresmo is the only top player absent. The Tennis Channel starts coverage Saturday.

henin's draw is too easy. hantuchova is the only notable player in her section who has done something lately but she has a losing record against justine.

This is the same situation as last week- how can I make a prediction when the WTA is not even televised until the quarterfinals??? With the depth of the WTA it is a total crap shoot, a blind guess, at this point when you can't see how the players are performing right now. Anyone can win any event in the wta. It is not predictable like the atp. If I could see the first few rounds of miami, and I cannot since they are not televised, I might get a sense of which players are "grooved".

Hi Tchocky. I called the tennis channel office, in NYC, and a representative told me that only the ATP matches would be covered! I know you pointed out to me that the "TTC" logo appeared next to the WTA section of that particular page on the tennis channel website but when I went through my dvr recordings of last year, I only had the later rounds of the wta on espn2 so I called the tennis channel. Of course, sometimes company representatives are wrong so I guess there is a faint glimmer of hope that TTC will broadcast the wta but it seems unlikely now.

We went through this last week, TTC has an agreement with the ATP to show the Masters events. Why don't you call the WTA and talk to them about making the same kind of deal with the TTC. It would probably cost them a ton of money to do it seeing as how the TTC just uses the Masters feed from Europe. But good luck on your mission.

I'm thinking 3 sets win for Danihan in the 3rd round against Zvonareva (0-1) , but 4th round might be a tough one against Henin (2-3). If I were to bet money, I'd bet a small sum on Danihan though. Since 4/5 matches in 2002 they split 2 wins each, but last year they played at Wimbledon and she lost there once. If Danihan is gonna win, she's gonna win in 3 sets. That's my bet.

TTC showed the Sharapova match on Saturday night. It was taped delayed but they did broadcast it. I don't know whether or not they showed any other WTA matches. My guess is that TTC will broadcast more WTA matches this weekend. When ESPN2 takes over coverage on Tuesday, you can be sure more WTA matches will be broadcast.

i thought henin's section was pretty easy for her. but after having to scrape past razzano, i'm not so convinced about her chances anymore, at least with respect to her form as of the moment. her projected 3rd round opponent, hantuchova is trailing zvonareva by a set and a break. i guess clijsters and even li na from the bottom half have better chances than i originally thought. and all of a sudden it looks like either venus or serena might go all the way. but i'm still betting on venus to beat serena if they both get to the round of 16.

ok so i was wrong again... :s

i really thought venus and serena would square off because this is like their home tournament. with the way things are going, it's not even gonna be a sure thing that serena will beat safarova. but if the younger williams does pull through, she will be favored against maria, based on current form.

Na Li d Clijsters 46,64,62
Henin d Zvonareva 63,62, plays Petrova next.

looks like the womens QF field will be set by the end of today, except for the Sharapova/Serena quarter.

I'm not surprised that Na Li took out Clijsters. I'm rooting for a Sharapova/Henin final so Justine can avenge her loss at the U.S. Open but I think Serena will take out Maria...again.

We will see if Shriekpova has any guts after getting thrashed by Serena. If we see another whipping, it might make her daddy mad.
